If people started ignoring the "precious metals are for libertarian kooks" shit that was intentionally pushed as propaganda, they'd be rioting when they figured out how much bankers stole from all of us.

@gray it's cheaper to feed raw if you buy chicken in bulk, but people are so weirded out by it and also have been trained to think all raw meat is automatically full of disease
@gray also based on my experience... we have chicken sold for human consumption in this country tainted with something that makes dogs not want to eat it. It is nowhere close to the "sell by" date and has zero scent discernible by me or my wife. But I know humans are cooking and eating it... very concerning.
@gray I'm wondering if there are trace chemicals from the bleaching ... the mass produced chicken is bleached because the factories are so goddamn filthy
I have not done a ton of experimenting but the few times I fed kosher chicken she seemed to not even give it a second sniff
Vegetables, through the roof. I just used up the last of my potatoes in the cellar from last years garden. Not happy to have to buy a bag. Rice is cheap but even if you did that with a chicken breast and some greens it's still exorbitantly priced. Then if you eat 3 square meals a day I go through 2 cartons of eggs a week pretty much. That's not including any other meat I'd otherwise purchase. I don't know what sort of back hole discount shop she's buying groceries from but my 2-3 week cost on groceries is about $250 and I'm currently single.
@Utility@RustyCrab@gray@bot that's crazy. You should be able to find leg quarters for $1 per pound. Sometimes really good deals pop up like 29 cents per pound, but it was commonly 79 cents. Maybe Midwest USA has some advantages here
@gray@RustyCrab@Utility@bot mmm check the suppliers the restaurants in your area would use. You'd be amazed at the deals that can be found. Gordon Foodservice is maybe easiest to access and national so probably there. Sysco for example would charge a ton and want a minimum order that's only suitable for a restaurant so that's out
@gray@RustyCrab@Utility@bot Ask the meat dept of your grocery store for the price on a 40# case they'll have it, it will be cheaper than what's on the shelf and literally the same thing
Not the biggest fan of pork, or turkey. There's a local pork exclusive butcher that I sometimes buy bacon from but meh. After working for a national company at one of their factories I'll never eat turkey again.
