A large client has launched their AI tools, with various articles about them posted to the internal blog, basically describing how it will enable the company to get rid of people.
The articles have a lot of "likes".
It really makes me wonder who thinks this will be good for them.
@YurkshireLad I'm thinking about it in terms of the 3 classes in industrial management...
You've got
A: directors/sr executives, very cozy with capital
B: middle management. A class bribed by A to direct & control C..
C: labour..the people who actually do stuff. More or less skilled, sometimes physical sometimes not.
Portions of all 3 classes are under some threat from AI. Some not.
But the thing about A & B is that it doesn't change much across industry, so is more vulnerable...
@YurkshireLad a lot of physical labour seems fairly safe...no near-future AI and robot is going to take over the trades.
If you were an investor, would you be more interesting in replacing large numbers of people doing simple tasks and getting paid peanuts, or the extremely expensive executive and middle management?
Obv. the executives are not out there selling this idea to the investors.
@YurkshireLad take a lot of stuff like CFO and head of HR. It's not really supposed to be a particularly creative job. Wouldn't AI be great at ticking the boxes to make sure all the various financial reporting and payroll compliances are being performed and start flashing a big red light if they aren't?
If I can replace the CFO and CHRO who are making a combined $25M/year, I can keep 250 people.
