@baldur I’d go one further and suggest making hard copies of photos, music, and video that it would hurt to lose.

All it takes is one bad sync or transfer to a new machine without you noticing and that file is gone forever.

@trechnex @baldur There wasn’t enough room in the piece but on the latter point, I add a layer to my paranoid backup solution: whenever I get a new Mac or perform a major OS upgrade, I buy a new SSD. So I have clones usually every year alongside the other backups I’m making.

And agreed re photos. We’re doing that more here now. If nothing else, they shouldn’t be confined to screens anyway.
