I didn't really enjoy "The Three-Body Problem" book. Partly due to Deus ex machina that the author pulls to explain the mystery introduced, but mostly because it was completely toothless and pointless in the light of serious topics that it brought (especially the Cultural Revolution).

For whatever reason I had I decided to give the Netflix show a try, and... it is also pretty terrible, IMO! The first scene was directed rather well, and the acting was top notch (except for the girl…

...the girl who kills Wenjie's father.

As we moved further into the present time acting devolved into recitation of lines around colliders and reproducibility in physics, and mentioning god in every other shot.

...it is funny how the script writer chose religious thematic to be a counterpoint for the failing science, and this might even make sense in TV show (even though it wasn't in the book). Why did they have to lay it so thick, though? Was it important to make half of the cast refer to it in roughly the same phrases in the first 10 minutes of the episode?

@reconbot haha, well... don't trust me! I'm heavily biased when it comes to movies and TV.

If you end up watching it - let me know how it goes for you!
