@revengeday@JoMendacium Because we all know that the instant one cable is either wound up or discarded, another cable of the same type dies and needs to be replaced. All cables are linked with each other at the quantum level in perfect balance.
Hence, an unwound cable just shoved in a box is essentially a Schrödinger's cable. Is it useful or is it trash? The only way to know is to throw it out, but can you really take the risk of being wrong?
Best to just leave those bad boys where they lie and shove the box further back into the closet, just to be sure.
