MSM is failing us.
H5N1, bird flu has mutated and jumped to mammals like minks, seals, foxes, skunks, raccoon, pigs and of course is in birds.
.You should never handle dead birds or wildlife.
It is in cattle. It has been found in raw milk and pieces of it in pasteurized milk.
Switching to a plant based milk alternative is an option.
If you have stopped wearing a mask you should begin again because bird flu is a virus, like covid.

A concern seems to be pigs and what happens if meat supply is infected.
@GottaLaff@Snowshadow They found pieces, not whole viruses, which is why the FDA says it's still safe to drink. Headlines are making people panic. Headlines should be focusing more on making those drinking raw milk reconsider their life choices. The pasteurization process is still making milk safe to drink.

(So much so that - I apologize for my weakness, but I know this from experience - I just can’t look at it or discuss it in detail without derailing my mental health. I give to organizations that fight it but can’t look at their mailings.) Greed is one reason it’s hard to fight; another is the fallacy of the zero-sum equation. No, there isn’t a limited amount of compassion in the universe, all of which should be spent on humans. Every act of compassion lays the groundwork for more.
@PeanutBurnham@Snowshadow@GottaLaff Not weak - also not desensitized which is a gift in these callous times. I, too, have to limit my exposure to triggering imagery because of its destabilizing effect on my perspective and the accompanying depression. Take good care of yourself.

@GottaLaff OH crap....a mammal. Not a good sign. Did you see this? Don't agree with his opinion on all govt but there are very valid points here...I was about to finally stop wearing a mask...but nah, I'm used to it now....always wear in stores, drs offices, etc
@GottaLaff TY! Same. This new info stopped my starting to get a bit lazy! Getting ready to fly again for first time since Jan and Feb so will def be masking through it all! Anyone know if we should be re-boosting for Covid, too? My last at end of Oct? It might be time.

@GottaLaff@GiddingsMJ the last article I saw said that 463 out of 889 cases resulted in death over the past ten years, from 23 reporting countries. Mortality rates vary from 52 to 56 percent, depending on the time period you choose.

What it usually means is that 50% of the people who got sick enough to require testing and hospitalization die. As with COVID, most of the people infected probably don't get sick enough to realize they have something unusual, and therefore get excluded from the statistics.

@GottaLaff This is going to absolutely upend the ecosystem, which is already disrupted by the reduction of insects, a main food source for birds. This type A avian influenza has already made the jump to mammals so quickly. It's sobering.
@CatHerder I knew him for a short time. He wanted me to be in a movie he wrote, so we’d hang out and just joke around and talk all the time, do voices to each other. He ran his black cornflake joke by me, and when I said i loved it, he told me he’d keep it.
I adored him.
The movie ended up being moved to Canada, so I never got to be part of it, but he did send me a photo of himself that said, “How nice that you’re mentally ill also.”
