@MuffinJets Like Krusader better, but Dolphin is good.

I'm just trying to avoid installing the entire plasma stck to get a file manager

@thelinuxcast 20 seconds is a lot. The only times I've ever experienced loading times over a second within the last 5 years is with dying hard drives and with slow drives accessed over the network via sshfs.

@jonulrich Yeah, it's not that. Only happens in Nautilus, works fine in THunar, Nemo and Krusader

@thelinuxcast Because Gnome knows better. No need for you to have your files in any reasonable amount of time.

@thelinuxcast Two things cause Nautilus to slow down massively, especially compared to other file managers.

First, the preview tech does a ton of stat calls, to work out what to show you. Disable it, and things get about 20% faster. They know about it, but no one has done a patch to fix it in over a decade, so I wouldn't be hopeful.

Secondly, the more bookmarks you have, the slower things get. Every time you open a folder it pings every single bookmark for some reason.

@shaknais I'm just going to use Thunar. I'd use my beloved Krusader, but I really don't want to install 300 packages.
