If we make commercial trucking pay for the wear and tear they put on highways, won't we push freight onto relatively efficient trains?

Too bad our cargo train system is fubar.

@swope I'd hope so! Too bad so many urbanists only talk about freight trains when it's time to make excuses for our dependence on trucks!

Sometimes I wonder if urban rails like trams or subways could be used for cargo deliveries during off-peak times.

Are there any cities doing that already?
