@dabeaz Please think about the non-native speakers, though. Mangled grammar is all fun and games, and you can easily grasp the meaning if you have experience with the language and the common mistakes people make, but it's absolute hell for people trying to translate it, either by hand or automatically. Add spelling mistakes, so that the words can't be looked up in a dictionary, and you have successfully excluded a large portion of the world's population.
My tolerance/respect has decreased over the years towards people who intentionally ignore proper grammar and spelling. (Doesn't apply if you're actually dyslexic or similar, of course.)
If your desire as a sender is to be edgy, too cool to care, or just lazy, but it makes me, the recipient, invest more time and brain cycles into interpreting your communications, I'm pretty quick with an unfollow nowadays.
@fabian I must admit that I entertain certain thoughts though. For example, if my kid included a minor grammatical mistake in his college admission essay, would someone seeing it interpret it as "he doesn't know how to write" or would it now be interpreted as "he probably wrote this essay himself"? I don't know.
