This resonates with me. It threw me off looking up IndieWeb reading material and mostly finding "add these technologies to your site." I don't like the dependencies and technical burden it adds to an independent website.

And I don't love how it raises the barrier for entry, especially when "how to we make creating websites accessible to more people who aren't web developers" is a big question on my mind, in the wake of @skinnylatte bringing this up last week.

Like I dunno, I don't feel like automating POSSE and turning my website + social media into a broadcast platform. I don't feel like putting webmentions on my site.

I feel like connecting sites via links and webrings is enough, and contacting each other via social media and email is enough.

Here's what I'm wondering:

How do we nurture an ecosystem where people will make more sites about garden gnomes?

@cvennevik by lowering the barrier to access and the maintenance cost.

SSG are still far too complex. And stuff like Wix or Squarespace too.

We more or less stopped working on that because WP won that fight. And now we are stuck at it.
