Threads has crossed 50 million signups and I’m highly annoyed that Mastodon’s signup flow is still super clunky—after years of begging the project to do something about it (it’s better than it used to be, but there’s still lots of room for improvement).
@thomasfuchs@SloanStudio to add to that, it is an open source project. It is built by its community. Sure, paying people helps someone spend more time on it. But it will be a pitiful amount compared to what some for-profit org would pay. It would still have to be a labor of love.
@thomasfuchs@zbrown Yeah, I get that. But still, there IS a learning curve here dissimilar to the other places. I’m not knocking that, but just being realistic in how that translates to the “masses” wanting to be a part of it.
