I’ve never done this but I feel like if I was going to then I’d take a bunch of valve caps (or buy them in bulk online for a few bucks) then I’d superglue the lentils in place and give them a quick once-over with a black sharpie.
Feels like most people wouldn’t realise that there’s a lentil in their valve cap if it was glued in, even less so if it seems innocuous with a quick visual inspection.
Having one flat is a pain but you can sort it out. Having a recurring flat will drive someone nuts.
The lentils are placed inside the valve cap so that when they are tightened in place it depresses the valve stem, causing the tire to deflate.
From what I can tell from the article they just placed the lentils in the valve caps loose so when the person went to reinflate their tire, the lentils fell out.
I miss being a teenager and being able to do this kind of stuff with relative impunity. We went to rich neighborhoods and slashed tires like while out skateboarding and hedge diving
That and a lot of people having been taught that luxury products display their worth and value to others. Perhaps not consciously but that’s what many advertisers have intentionally sought to do.
I had an old college buddy kinda explode on me about this when he asked my why I still use an older phone and I told him because it does everything I need from a phone. The specific brainworms were something along the lines of asking me if I thought it made me look bad which I just kinda laughed at and said why would I feel that way or care about people who do?
He kinda really fell down the neoliberal rabbit hole (his role, degree, and money will do that) and I think it just kinda drives him insane that other people don’t measure “worth” the same way he does. He also seems to really struggle to connect with a lot of us because fortunately most of us haven’t tied our self worth to our financial status and didn’t make our personalities consumption.
I love these stories because there’s always some piss baby in the comments like “You should try that with my car Down here in Houston…. I’ll introduce you you to my Wives… Smithand & Weson…”
There’s a group of called the Tyre Extinguishers that recommend doing actions like this to fight back against luxury SUVs and other big vehicles, and they recommend putting a lentil under the tire cap on the car
