#Throwbackthursday to 2003. When my fascination with VR really fired up. I was so excited to have a 1MP camera to get a photo of using this.

@SomeGadgetGuy Crazy how much VR tech had advanced in 2 years! This was me in 2001, where the headset had to be suspended on (presumably) hydraulic arms!
Although you can't see my face, you can tell that this is me because I apparently have been obssessed with tiny messenger bags and sling packs for over two decades now.

There was a hot period in the late 90's and early 00's where there was a LOT of arcade VR. I don't remember exactly what platform this was on, but I know SEGA was doing some work and companies like virtuality were making fun stuff.
@SomeGadgetGuy interesting, would love to learn more about that phase, I believe Virtuality was more of a early 90s thing as they went bankrupt by 1997 but I can believe a lot of the history is not really easy to find out about at this point.
@73ms Oh you might be right about that. I might have my memory of the timeline off. Still, those machines were in arcades for a WHILE, so someone had to be maintaining them.
It's the thing about VR. We see some bigger highlights, but it never really "goes away" or stops.
