@drahardja Going bust seems pretty unlikely. There could be a few rough quarters, but if a new model comes out for under $30k that could boost sales as well as margins for unit.
CNBC did a story on hybrids beating EVs in the US. It does not cover the details well though. It seems to suggest lack of charging stations and many still being unfamiliar with EVs is why buyers are shying away from EVs. I think there are many factors. Inflation and the super high price that dealers have put on the Ford F-150 Lightning combined with many not commuting are key contributors. The increased use of deliveries for groceries and just about everything else also reduces the need for vehicle ownership. The past few years have also been great for e-bike sales. So many reasons can explain why EVs are not selling.
It is hard to say if that will turn around or automakers will simply adjust.
@EverydayMoggie@drahardja For real! Most people should not need their own personal vehicle because public transit works well. For me it is more than just the price of the vehicle. There is insurance, parking and maintenance which adds up. I live in a city where I just do not need a car so I have a moped which gets me where I want to go quickly and I can park easily. Many of my friends now just ride bikes most of the time. It cuts out the biggest costs.
I recently purchased a OneWheel and will start using it to get around within 2 miles of my home which will cover a lot of my needs. I see many adults riding electric scooters or e-bikes. I’d like to see that become much more common instead of massive pickup trucks.
