I like lemmy, don’t know where it came from or why so many names are a variant of Lemmy or Feddit. What’s your personal favorite, and why should we all call it that?

I’ve seen the lemmy-type sites referred to as the ‘threadiverse’ part of the wider fediverse
Chickenstalker, Democratic Federation of Forums (DFF). We can even have a Dear Leader.

The protocol is Activity Pub.
Lemmy is one frontend that translates Activity Pub data into a format that resembles Reddit, more precisely, link sharing and community building.
Kbin does the same, but it’s an entirely different front end. It wouldn’t make sense to call it a “Lemmy” or “Feddit” or anything like that.
Lemmy instances are… Lemmy.
Kbin instances are… Kbin.
Mastodon instances are… Mastodon.
Everything that uses Activity Pub is often called the Fediverse (federation + universe).
