UN: Almost all buildings in Israel's buffer zone in Gaza were destroyed

According to the UN’s Satellite Center, 90 percent of buildings within the buffer zone were damaged or destroyed. The destruction of thousands of buildings for this project is viewed by the international community as potentially constituting a war crime

The report examined the destruction and damage caused to buildings within a kilometer of the Israeli border, where the army is methodically demolishing structures.

The actual number in the buffer zone could be higher. Haaretz recently published an analysis indicating that the damage from the project extends 1,200 meters from the border, which is 200 meters further than the area the report analyzed.

Potentially!

athos77,

Isn't that the point? Israel wants a buffer zone with Gaza, and they're certainly not going to take it from Israeli land - that would be like 1/400th of Israeli land, which is simply intolerable! No, they're going to steal a full 1/7th of all Gazan land for the buffer zone.

deegeese,

Some lebensraum thanks to ethnic cleansing. When does the next pogrom start?

DancingBear,

Whether we know our history or not, we are doomed to repeat it. Especially when money and power and greed are involved.
