Bell Canada, how low can you go? Hours ago, I signed up to switch my Fibre internet service to TekSavvy. A few minutes go I got a call from Bell, offering to lower my rate. So apparently lower rates are only a good business practice when it hurts smaller players.

Gross.

cc: @andykm -- I'm assuming this doesn't rise to the level of a CRTC complaint.

Dear dental office. Please stop sending text reminders to my landline, which cannot receive texts. Sadly doesn't send a note saying 'this number cannot receive texts'. It would be handy if they did.

Listening to BCE's annual results call.

tldr; doubling down on data selling and ad revenue.

cutting 4800/9% employees and 750 contractors, the largest hackjob in 30y. This will save ~$250M, less than the company has paid for the presenting CEO and CFO over the past 5 years...

Mad as hell that the govt. is opening fibre to competition and are going to sulk about it by slowing the rollout and capping the available speeds at 3Gbps.

BCE stock dropped 6.25% on Thu and Fri, against a fairly flat background for the TSX...

No particular news other than the withdrawal of advertising from X? No results...no interesting announcements, no unfavourable analyst targets.... there's background stuff around competition and Canadian news settlements....no smoking gun tho....

🤔 Just a thought: now that we left the bird-poop tray, is anyone interested in brainstorming social and political change ideas on Mastodon? I want to and would love chatting with like-minded users.

Is this the place where we can do that?

Rasta,
@Rasta@mstdn.ca avatar

@ZoraSaidSo I go full-tilt or no-tilt. When broke my legal contract, something they would sue me for doing, they sat behind $1.6b dollars in legal fees to defend their corruption. I printed 1000s of pages of my story and handed it out in front of their store, encouraging people to shop elsewhere or at least read the story. They were not happy. I'm passionate about correcting wrongs

I think I have enough. Do you?

Sure, I'd like a bigger boat, a newer car or a million dollars, but I don't NEED anything (yet). I have food, housing, and reasonable health.
Those are my basic needs.
A new car would be a luxury item.

Where do you fit on the ?

@maggiemaybe @FrankFrank In return for $5,000,000 removed every payphone on the longest highway in and took away any communication. The rural emergency department hasn't opened the first 3months of 2023, and I've never seen it open In 40 years. I've been gerrymandered out of my retirement home by no services, gas is 30 miles away, as well as groceries, no banks, and average age is about 66 now. Council doesn't care about Rural

@petersmithca I cut all ties with as the crooks they turn out to be. Since they are the only providers of landlines in NS, that was the first to go. I had VOIP before but not keeping my landline number Now I do, and it costs me $15/mo vice 35

Why is subsidized?! 🤔

Rasta,
@Rasta@mstdn.ca avatar

@muiiio It's the same with other corporations, we have telecom that makes 1.6 billion in profit, and won't install any fiber that the government isn't paying for. We have been paying twice or three times to get basic services. IE: or are self-professing BEST in Canada, and I don't have cellular 100 miles from the city center, there's up to 50 miles of isolated coastal highways for tourists, without emerg phone use. When we buy it, they will overprice our use of OUR tower

Fricken and in . Step up .

I just went to set up for my new apartment and apparently the line going into the building is blocked for . I've been with TekSavvy for probably close to 20 years (National Capital Freenet before that).

Especially ridiculous that they can do this going into an building and charge tenants whatever ridiculous inflated rates they want.

Bell Canada’s Crave TV service is dropping basically all Star Trek the last week of July. Only Strange New Worlds will remain, if I can trust the in-app description boxes. Star Trek is the only reason I subscribe! Boooo.
