Leaving the farmers market, I cut through a permit-only parking lot on the way to the bus stop to head home, when a giant SUV pulled in and a passenger rolled down her window to ask me: "Do you know if we can park here?"
Me: "Sorry, I don't own a car and use transit. I have no idea."
She was very surprised and looked at me with disgust, as if I were some strange unworthy creature, reinforced by a dismissive gesticulation to wave me off.
