I’ve Covered Violent Crackdowns on #Protests for 15 Years. This #Police Overreaction Was Unhinged.
When police attacked student #protesters, a lone trash can was the only damaged property I saw around City College of New York.
Between #Columbia and #CityCollege, over 200 protesters — almost all #students — were arrested before the night was out.
Brutal policing and groundless excuses are nothing new, nor is bipartisan support for the crackdowns.

The fact that City College of San Francisco is not free to all San Franciscans, regardless of immigration status, continues to aggravate me.

Currently, eligibility for undocumented folks hinges on the criteria set forth by the California bills AB 540, AB 130, AB 2000, and SB 68.

Most people who arrived here as adults will not meet these criteria, even if they’ve lived in San Francisco for decades and despite the fact that they might have so much to gain from the education City College offers.
