Recall campaigns in DC have to file campaign finance reports only twice a year (January 31 and July 31). You'd think out of self-interest the council would have made them be at least as transparent as other kinds of political committees.
The campaign attempting to recall Charles Allen did file a report yesterday, but it shows $0 raised and spent. It says it covers the period 12/13/2023 to 12/13/2023 (1 day). #DCElections#DCision24#DCPolitics
The chair of the DC Republican Party says the recall attempt has raised $54k. I wonder when we'll find out where the money came from. #DCElections#DCision24#DCPolitics

Two new people picked up nominating petitions Tuesday to run for the Ward 7 council seat: Ebbon Allen and Dwight Sinclaire Deloatch Jr. That makes 13 candidates for the Democratic primary so far. #DCision24#DCElections
There's also one non-Democrat who's picked up nominating petitions in DC: Myrtle Patricia Alexander, a Republican running for US delegate. I'm not counting those running for GOP party positions. https://myrtle4congress.com/
No DC Statehood Green Party members have picked up yet, and the Libertarians are no longer eligible to hold a primary, having dropped to "minor party" status after failing to get enough votes in 2022. #DCElections#DCision24
Another Democratic candidate for shadow senator picked up petitions Wednesday but didn't show up on the list for a while: Brandon LaFred Dean, who was the first to register with OCF last year. In some places his name is spelled Brandaun. He ran unsuccessfully in the Democratic primary for US Senate in Alabama in 2022. #DCElections#DCision24
On Thursday two more DC Council candidates picked up petitions. Christian Carter Addison is a Democrat running for an at-large seat, and Nate Derenge is a Republican running for the Ward 8 seat. #DCElections#DCision24
Eugene Kinlow picked up petitions on Friday to run for DC shadow senator, becoming the 8th candidate in the Democratic primary for that office. #DCElections#DCision24
LaQueda Tate picked up petitions yesterday to run in the Democratic primary for DC delegate to the House. There are now 6 candidates in that race, including the incumbent, Eleanor Holmes Norton, who has held the position since 1991. #DCElections#DCision24
Not surprisingly the two DC elected offices that have the most candidates currently are the two where the incumbent is not running for reelection: council Ward 7 (13 candidates) and shadow senator (9). But close behind are US delegate (7) and council Ward 8 (6). We'll see how many make it to the ballot for the primary. Collecting 2,000 signatures for a citywide race is hard; 250 for a ward race is more doable. #DCElections#DCision24
Meanwhile, in the at-large Democratic council primary, Kevin Rapp has filed a termination report for his campaign committee, leaving only Robert White and Rodney "Red" Grant in that race for the time being. Things may change, as nominating petitions become available Friday. #DCElections#DCision24
