Impossible to argue England were much other than lucky there. But winning teams are occasionally lucky, and they are now in the last 8 teams that can win this world cup.
By contrast I've no argument with that VAR review, biased goggles be damned. That was really silly by James. I wouldn't have condoned it pre VAR, but after its introduction, it's impossible to get away with.
Not for the first time, the evidence on the VAR monitor seems (to me) to back up the onfield decision, but the referee returns convinced of a clear and obvious error.
And that's why I don't post during sporting events. Since the last two toots, Sweden have had a couple of spells of patient constructive possession. And Fox has been forced into hacking the ball away rather than finding an out.
Whoop whoop! #CentralStation in #Sydney is buzzing with excited Women's World Cup #fwwc2023 fans. #Australia 🇦🇺 versus #Ireland 🇮🇪 tonight apparently.
Great to see so many happy people. I'm not actually a sports ball guy but the energy was worth a quick Toot! #WomensWorldCup
@chestas I haven't had a chance to really get a sense of the struggle, or delve into the games deeply yet. After a typically conservative title match start I was very impressed with Lei, who seemed extremely well prepared and supremely confident, while Ju appeared to be oddly the opposite. Very much looking forward to the finish as the dynamic presumably shifts a bit now. #chess#womeninchess#JuWenjun#LeiTingjie #FWWC2023
