#Memphis’ Desmond Bane with an interception and then a #Ledecky slam. Part of the #Nuggets’ third-quarter sloppiness. Nuggets 81, #Grizzlies 66, third quarter. #NBA@nba
Joker took half of the second quarter off and focused on distribution when he returned, but he still finished the first half with 21-6-6. #Nuggets 69, #Grizzlies 44, halftime. #NBA@nba
Joker passes three-quarter court to Porter Jr. for the three. Jokic is still the best QB in #Denver. #Nuggets 13, #Grizzlies 4, early first quarter. #NBA@nba
"We should be doing everything we can to protect and live alongside both wolves and grizzly bears, not actively facilitating their eradication. These species are incredibly important to the Nimiipuu people, and we are working to end the assault on these species – for the benefit of our environment and for future generations."
Thank you, Julian Matthews and #Nimiipuu Protecting the Environment. We are honored to be your coplaintiffs.
Good first quarter for #Denver. They committed zero fouls, pushed the ball at every opportunity, and ended the quarter with a Joker “Threecola!” at the buzzer. Joker has 13 points in 12 minutes and hasn’t missed a shot. #Nuggets 33, #Grizzlies 27. #NBA@nba
"Anti-predator hate is bound up in a long, complicated relationship going back to the beginning of westward expansion.... As cultural attitudes toward ecology, wildlife, and conservation shifted over the course of a century, predators’ standing in the eyes of millions of Americans did too. ... The animals that most symbolized that shift — #wolves#grizzlies and the like — thus became avatars for a particular political class."
My partner said before the game that Marcus Smart would be coaching all of the Memphis players on how to play vs the #Celtics and that's the most charitable explanation possible for how close the incredibly short-handed #Grizzlies came to toppling Boston.
some lunchtime #nba thoughts after absorbing the weekend
the take that trading for Harden doomed the Clips is both true and silly. That team wasn't anything anyway. Russ will be fun on the Heat or whoever though
Philly is finally the team they should've been the last...3? 5? seasons: a fun, high-energy lineup around Embiid. They're enjoyable to watch for the first time in ages. Maxey making the leap isn't news anymore but it's deeper than that. Their team isn't perfect but it is coherent 🧵
@mrcompletely@Defiance I got the impression that was part of the #Grizzlies attitude and culture - as a team they wanted to be the swaggering villains (IIRC didn't someone say the Grizz were the biggest trash talkers in the league at the last All Star game?). So far he has played with an edge but apart from some foul trouble against the Pels it's been well controlled. I guess we'll see of he can keep it that way on the road.
@boredtrevor@mrcompletely@Defiance Dillon Brooks is a good player and was very important for growing the current #Grizzlies but last season it all just felt like a relationship break up, the grizzlies needed to grow up, and DB needed to be where his defensive engery and leadership could make a difference. He did have career bad shooting last season but he's usually an "average" NBA player on that front. It was right for the grizzlies to move on and I'm glad DB found a team where he's a plus.
@piglet@mrcompletely@Defiance Does feel a bit like the #Grizzlies are missing him this season so far though, right? Their wing and guard depth seems a bit flimsy right now.
#NBA#nbaplayoffs OK, now hear me out....the #Lakers have only reallybeen dumfounded by the #grizzlies when they change the line up from the expected starting 5 (Ja, Bane, Brooks, JJJ and Tilman).....so....cometh the hour, cometh...Kenny Lofton Jr! We all love Kenny minutes. Even people who don't love the Kenny minutes, love the Kenny minutes, and people who don't yet know the Kenny minutes, will also love the Kenny minutes.
[Wojnarowski] The Celtics are trading Marcus Smart to the Grizzlies as part of deal, sources tell ESPN. (twitter.com)
