📕Book Review #22 for 2024 is Toshikazu Kawaguchi's Before Your Memory Fades. This volume of Kawaguchi's Before the Coffee Gets Cold series is set in the city of Hakodate on the island of Hokkaido and not in Tokyo. I felt that the end of this one was a bit rushed, and with more storylines, compared to the other two volumes I have read. My foray into contemporary Japanese fiction continues with this charming novel by Sosuke Natsukawa, about a young boy who inherits a secondhand bookshop from his grandfather and, with the help of a talking cat, begins a voyage of self-discovery.
