After the 2020 presidential election, as Trump falsely claimed that President Joe Biden had stolen the election, people displayed a startling symbol outside their homes, on their cars and in online posts: an upside-down American flag. One of the homes flying an inverted flag during that time was the residence of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, in Alexandria, Virginia, according to photographs and interviews with neighbors. Alarmed neighbors snapped photographs, some of which were recently obtained by The New York Times. Word of the flag filtered back to the court, people who worked there said in interviews. The "immigration crisis" is what Republicans are keeping around to try to trick people into voting for them. Just like Trump's first term, they won't actually do anything to address this problem that they keep screaming about!
How many people realize that America is currently experiencing a hot domestic information war in which only one side is fighting: the MAGAs.
So, serious question: who’s on the other side of the information war now raging in America?
Obviously we saw the government try to become a combatant—a defender of America—by creating an office designed to combat disinformation, but we all know how that went: MAGA declared war on the office and everyone in it and the government backed down.
There are a few journalists we might identify—say, Jim Acosta—but no entire media organizations. And media writ large has made clear its view that high-traffic progressive social media feeds aren’t allies but grifting.
So who’s defending America?
Yet again, the very people out there complaining and shouting about indoctrination of children and teaching alternative history are the same people actually doing those things!!
