WAKE UP, BABE! The new #InTechnology podcast episode just dropped!! 🍿🧃
How can we prevent the practical exploitation of side channels without losing the efficiency gains we get from sharing the resource? Our colleague Daniel recently joined Anders Fogh, Fellow & Security Researcher at Intel, and Camille Morhardt, host of the #InTechnology podcast, to discuss this and more.
@douginamug In the 90s, I had a lecture at University where the Professor was talking about Kellerstapelspeicher and Haufen. I didn't understand a thing.
I was very relieved, when I found out that he talked about stacks and heaps. 🤓

Old and busted: More or less every school on the planet uses and teaches #Microsoft products and makes people addicted to it.
New hotness: Public universities spend money on #OpenAI#ChatGPT pro licences for their employees. Professors encourage (and might force in future) students to use that crap for their studies. Instead of actually learning stuff by solving exercises, students have to hand in their “conversations” with a proprietary LLM.
@linos Of course they do, since students are already MS junkies by that point. Even #TUGraz have recently shut down their Linux server pluto.tugraz.at (RIP). Also, they used to have dual-boot machines with CentOS (and I think also Debian) in Lernzentrum Inffeldgasse, but those have disappeared a decade ago already.
I remember back in 2009, people would pity the few poor Windows users whose Laptops would take ten minutes to boot. And the Ubuntu drum would be heard in every lecture hall.
