Some #design & subsequent #3Dprinting for my #smartwatch, in a bid to tidy up my desk a bit. When I found my charger nice and hot from being magnetically stuck to some nail clippers, shorting out, I figured it was time.

Used #woodworking techniques for joinery, allowing me to evolve each piece to incorporate new features. A little dovetail in each joint with the back spine lets me swap out pieces, mix and match colours too.

Nice to have my #smartwatch along for our late afternoon walk again. Getting the stats, route and a buzz at each km is great. I'd been without for five weeks.

Great that the vendor (#Amazfit) replaced the one that died after 2.5 yrs even though I think the warranty is something less than that. (?)

I was an always-on watch wearer through my teen and early-adult yrs, even sleeping with it on. I gave up on wearing watches around 2005 prob, only starting again in 2021 with a smartwatch, which has been fantastic.

As tooted earlier, that watch died prematurely on Jan 1, so I've been resurrecting some old, (approaching vintage-status) watches that have sat gathering dust.

Remember 'Indiglo' the big new illumination thing in the '90s? I put in a battery and new band on this Timex.

TBH, just having time/date only – no weather, texts, phone-number display, pedometer and heart rate has been a bit disappointing these past few weeks.

Eagerly awaiting the replacement watch the wonderful customer service people are sending me.

My 2yr old smartwatch has been absolutely great with several features I have come to depend on.

It stopped connecting on Jan1, though being fine on Dec31. It still fine worked fine, but wouldn't connect.

In the process of resets and retries it went into dull-lifeless brick mode.

Anyway, contacted support and will see what they do, if anything, to help a 2yr old product.

My other watches are all between 15 and 40 years old - but maybe that era's over?

Whether it's an one again will depend on the probability that I need to replace it every two years.

Further to my toots about my smartwatch which was great for two years, until a sudden failure on Jan 1…

I got a follow-up from support saying they'll replace it! What a nice surprise, to see them stand behind their product 2yrs on. We'll see if it actually arrives.

It's good too that they asked for the failed one returned – it's possible then they can learn from their failed products. That's a 'best practice' in manufacturing. It's hard to improve without data.

Anyone know how to disable or remove from an GTR 4 Limited Edition?

It's a nice watch, but I don't like an assistant on my wrist. In my pocket is enough.

Any users here?

I'm looking to replace a trusted , and thought I'd be getting a 245. But, I'm mighty impressed my husband's rather simple .

Specifically, I'm also wondering about uploading stats from an to my other .

Any and all experiences are most welcome. But, please note: my budget is somewhat limited.

@vlfuller I've bought an Bip 3 Pro to my girlfriend. For workouts (with GPS), steps measurement and beat rate, it is working fine! These were the main features she wanted to have.

We are also glad it works with @gadgetbridge, so we can have more , instead of giving our data to some company. After a few days, a developer help me to set up the watch with this app https://codeberg.org/Freeyourgadget/Gadgetbridge/issues/3249
