Aha - tools for the win. Wondered to myself, can I export an out of ?

A quick Duck Search tells me yes, there's a plugin called which will do it!

You convert an object to a greasePencil object then export that as an SVG. Nice.

Oh well Blender's Object > greasePencil > SVG export is very simple and fast! How nice!

When exporting the SVG, the current view is used, so if using an oblique view of your model (I used a dummy object here) you get an oblique SVG.

From an overhead view in Blender, I export to get a nice SVG that I can use for a PCB outline. Very useful.

Some pics for illustration:

The object is converted to a GreasePencil outline, and menus are shown where the export to SVG option is pulled out of a dropdown menu. The current view is from an oblique angle, so the resulting line drawing (aka SVG) will be the same view.
The resulting SVG file pulled into the Inkscape program shows a heavy line drawing as generated by the Blender application. It's very clean and nice.
An overhead 'plan' view of the same object. In this format, the shape is useful for me to import into a circuit board layout tool called KiCad which will let me use that outline in a circuit board design. Very nice results, and easy.

My KiCad update download has completed. I'm doing a re-install, then back into the saddle to learn it all over from scratch with a small circuit board project.

Took half an hour out of my morning to get some started. Not sure when it will wrap up - this sort of timing usually ends up with a few loaves baked around supper time or shortly thereafter.

is unpredictable though and this is a newer starter offshoot I've been cultivating for the last month.

It's been a couple of years since I last used . I had just finally given up on in spite of my large library personal parts, but it was time.

A bit of a learning curve, but I got there, and was happy with KiCad's capabilities. Now I guess I'll ramp up from scratch again. Ugh. Hope it comes back quickly.

Checking versions, I have 5.1.12 and see the latest is… gulp 8.0.2. Well, I'm ramping up from dim recollections anyway, so it shouldn't add much extra effort.

Doing a lot of washing up at work just now, cos it's quiet, but lab glassware is more fragile than you'd think, and because I was in a hurry about two months ago I took a decent sized chunk out of my finger when a beaker broke.
Partly, yes, lesson learned, no permanent damage, never rush the handwashing in a lab. But also, I can feel that bit of my finger in particular every time I wash up. Just in my brain, a little reminder. It gives me a tiny inkling of what PTSD actually is.

@_thegeoff I have probably a similar scar on my index finger from washing the inside of a glass. Indeed, it's been 35yrs and I still think of it when I wash a glass, and am more careful because of it.

A storm is getting organized as it approaches us. It was rather diffuse until about half an hour ago. It's approaching us from the southwest.

Unless it dissipates suddenly (as has been known to happen) we'll be getting some rumbles momentarily.

Some neighbors were arguing with annoying geese from their balcony last night.

The gander of this particular pair alert honks continuously and likes to hang out right behind their house, on a nice flat lawn next to the water.

"Go away!" the neighbors yelled.

The geese did not go away and continued to honk.
