With all the rain we've had, the lawn is growing quite well. Was able to do the first cut of the season Thursday. A bit delayed this year due to the truck being in winter storage mode longer than usual. Will need to cut it again this week, especially with a total of 40 mm from the Friday-Saturday #mbstorm rains.
Been one of those generally wet and windy days here today. We're certainly in no way starved for rain by this point in the latter half of spring.
Received around 30 mm of rain today - 18 fell in the early morning hours. Would have been higher if a dry slot didn't develop here between 09:00 & 14:00.
Areas out to the west actually had some snow coming down as temps were near zero. That's unusual for late May. #mbstorm
Heavy #snow is lifting northwards through the Red River Valley this afternoon; driven by a compact system with much instability, it is bringing some of the most intense snowfall rates of the season. Under the heaviest bands, snow is piling up at rates as much as 2–4 cm per hour. This system will drop over 10 cm of snow along its path in just a few hours.
And, of course, the worst of it will begin in #Winnipeg right in time for rush hour. Be prepared for a bad drive this evening! #MBstorm#MBwx
We have our final home game of the season coming up tonight as this rough year nears its conclusion next week with two away games. Will be interesting to see what happens at the one on Sunday -- or even if it might get postponed due to a possible major winter storm that could impact us then. Probably not, but too early to tell right now. Whenever it ends up happening, it'll be against two of our former top players, so is very much anticipated. #hockey#JuniorHockey
Looks like today's game will proceed as scheduled. We've had just a trace of snow and a little freezing rain. Further west and north of here, it's a different story. #mbstorm
Found a thin, patchy layer of freezing rain/drizzle on my vehicle after the game. Roads were just damp for the most part, so we've been spared the worst of the #mbstorm .
As for our game: we opened the scoring -- getting one by our former goaltender and had a good first period. Although, the situation deteriorated in the second period and we could never quite come back with the same level of play. Our Gold Coast visitor broke his spare stick out of frustration. He said he didn't like it anyways.
Had mentioned a couple times in recent @aweathermoment forecasts how weather models tend to under-develop the upper troughs associated with Colorado Lows. As I sit here in #Winnipeg w/drizzle falling and temperatures near +2 °C, it’s interesting to look at the trend of total snowfall over the runs of the ECMWF leading up to this event. The NW shift of the snow over a hundred km northwest is very obvious. Moreover, the most recent runs axe almost all the snow from the RRV & SE #MBstorm!
Had 10 cm snow on the 10th, as it's now past midnight on the 11th. Officially @CodySimpson 's bday here. Wonder what he'll be up to. Hopefully Emma is back from her trip to Sydney. No wonder Codes could work on his music -- the house was empty lol. Really enjoyed his recording sessions. Super into "Kirra"... Terrific melody and lyrics that have stayed with me, even in just that demo form. Imagine what it might be like with even a little more added. Or maybe, just leave it like it is.
So far this morning, 8 cm snow has fallen. It's pretty dry and light, so even though it looks intimidating to shovel, it's not bad. There is some drifting, too, but none of it is packed down. Put some extra bird seed out for the feathered friends. #mbstorm
An exhausting loss tonight -- 9 to 4. Was kept busy with helmet and skate issues, but managed it all. Weather conditions were starting to deteriorate going to the game and left their mark on the vehicle, which needed brushing and scraping to clear wind-whipped ice and snow before returning home. Staying twenty kilometers per hour under the regular speed limit was the safe way to get around and all the drivers I saw were taking it easy too, which is good. #hockey#JuniorHockey#mbstorm
