I needed a little rest, so I took a mental health day off work.. wait.. I don't have a J-O-B 😂
I'm retired, you're not, have a nice day at work, eh!
I don't always see them, but we have plenty of mink in my area. In the 80s, there was a mink farm nearby, and my dog brought me one every day, and laid it on the doorstep. Now they roam free (wild ones, of course)
So today has been possibly the #best photo walkabout I've had.
It started off by spotting what I think was a #Mink and following it along the river for a while. Unfortunately, I have had to report it as it is invasive here.
I then spent some time watching the #sandmartins before capturing what I think is my best #bird in flight photo of a #heron (I'll share it next week!).
Then...I saw what I've seen flashes of for weeks...a #Kingfisher
It perched up on the a branch the other side of the river but long enough to get some snaps and a short video. I also then managed to capture it flying off again (image attached). Truly an amazing experience to finally see one of these in the wild for the first ever time.
Then while finishing my walk I encountered some deer!!
I guess that's what happens when the sun shines for the first time in #Aberdeen in what feels like a month!
I am not a professional photographer, just someone who takes far too many pictures when out on walks/hikes. (Stone carving is my thing). This is an American Mink. It walked up to me to about 3 feet (1 meter) as if to ask why was I in the woods. It then hustled back to an abandoned Beaver house and continued to check me out. A staring contest! Cute little critter, wish I was that good looking.
