Common starling (aka european starling). Prior to having the long zoom on my current camera I never got close enough to one to appreciate quite how iridescent they could appear! They're frequent visitors to a bird feeder a neighbour recently put out in their front garden.

The #starlings that have been gathering every night in #Eynsham, #Oxfordshire, since December are dispersing. 😢

From 23,000+ #birds in mid January, last night my estimate was only 2,500+. I'm going to miss them when they're gone.

Here's a #painting I made of them as they explode out of the roost at #sunrise. It's called "Up, up and away!" I hope you like it.
