Deze meneer is al zo lang topambtenaar. Dus terwijl Rutte en Co hun beleid uitstippelden was deze meneer de baas van de organisaties die het uitvoerden.

Uiteindelijk wellicht een logische keuze. Hij moet dalijk leiding geven aan de extra parlementaire handpoppen die ze (pvv, vvd, ncs, BBB) onder de bus flikkeren als blijkt dat een hoop beloftes helemaal niet blijken te kunnen.

Maar wellicht heb ik het mis. Ik ben wel benieuwd.

We kunnen hopen dat hij en een aantal andere bewindslieden dalijk erg goede politici blijken die echt beleid schrijven, meerderheden onderhandelen en daadwerkelijk dingen regelen.

And their assets will be seized by the government.

But it important to keep repeating … companies are not moral. They are profit driven, cost externalizing entities. If you want or need them to do something for the public good… you legislate them.

One thing Russia understands better than the western world. It might be a dog and pony show, but they don’t ask nicely. When dealing with companies, that is the only way.

Have you not been paying attention. The Baltics and Poland are constantly being gps jammer from kalingrad. It is a military stronghold.

At the same time Russia is occupying parts of Moldavia and Georgia while invading Ukraine and committing atrocities by the dozens.

Poland is wants peace so they prepare for war.

And on the other side of the same coin you have suburbanites driving 2 ton vehicles that drive 20 miles to the gallon.

So higher gas prices will primarily require a lot of people to abandon the “who cares about mileage” mindset and start driving actually normal vehicles.

Also plenty of EVs have 300+ mile ranges and that will suffice for 95% of travel in the US too. Insert proper plug in hybrids in the mix that do 50 miles electric and probably range anxiety is something of the past.

Remaining on the teet of big oil means big oil will keep sucking up corporate welfare while devastating our planet.

Also public transport needs to improve. Dedicated buslanes to bypass traffic jams in big cities means that each bus takes dozens of cars off the road.

Cost is a factor for sure… that is where the government can step in. Mandate more affordable vehicles. In the Netherlands the subsidies on new EVs where now limited to 50k sticker price set to be reduced again. To guide the market.

And buslanes should just be more intensively used then… but it starts by showing that public transport is a viable alternative.

Train infra in the US is just hub and spoke… the interconnects are missing between the suburbs.

But this is not misinformation, it is uncontrolled nonsense. It directly devalues their offering of being able to provide you with an accurate answer to something you look for. And if their overall offering becomes less valuable, so does their ability to steer you using their results.

So while the incorrect nature is not a problem in itself for them, (as you see from his answer)… the degradation of their ability to influence results is.

Oh don’t get me wrong I know exactly what you mean and I agree… it’s just that the LLMs are spewing actual nonsense and that breaks the whole principle of what a search engine should do… provide me accurate results.

I don’t believe they will retain user interactions if the reason for the user interactions dissapears. The value of Google is they provide accurate search results.

I can understand some users just want to be spoonfed an answer. But that’s not what most people expect from a search engine.

I want google to use actual AI to filter out all the nonsense sites that turn a Reddit post into an article of 500 words using an LLM without any actual value. That should be googles proposition.
