Next school year, my son will be left home after school for a few hours while my wife and I are at work. Iโm looking for a way to detect when heโs home and have the front door unlock (among other automation scripts that are in place)....
Just thinking of ditching nextcloud and its just too much for my family use. All i needis carddav, caldav and file sync. Have a Debian VM running on Scale and was thinking of using Cloudron docker install. Is this the way others are installing on VMs?

Ah, okโฆ I see. I guess youโve not filtering on distance then, ok. I see all my neighbours stuff on 1 sensor, so automatically started filtering (and then attempting to tune)
Good point on the negative room sensing, I think I need to start this againโฆ but also ditch the crap module.
Butโฆ how much faffing did you have to do to get the tuning right?
Iโve recently started using this and have 3 different ESP modules and Iโm having a hellofatime getting them to show near-enough results, let alone accurate.
1 of them literally has the phone on top of it and it thinks itโs 4m away.
Iโve gone upto absorbtion factor 10 (Spock) with an RSSI adjustment of 6, and thatโs passible on 1 device, but not another
I think others have covered the main points, but I found it hard going for 1 device (ie a Ras Pi, VM, etc), but then it was effortless when I wanted to add a 2nd (or moreโฆ), so at first pick the sensible uses, then consider ansible for that one-off device a little laterโฆ
I like a few specific utils (tmux, nmon, htop) on all my devices: ansible script
I want to update all the Ras Pis in the house: ansible script
Clonezilla has been my goto backup / restore solution for years. Iโve used it on everything from RaspberryPi SD Cards to a Dell Poweredge server with PERC RAID controller (because some fool setup the wrong RAID parameters).
I didnโt know about Rescuezilla thoughโฆ so thanks for that.
Good day self-hosters! Iโm not exactly sure what to call what Iโm looking for besides a โclipboardโ. Let me describe my problem and what my ideal solution is....
Iโve been using it for years for a similar reason.
Each section (Tiddler) that you create in each wiki can be exported as a static HTML file, so if you have tables, etc, then formatting shouldnโt be lost.
I use Firefox with an addon that helps to save changes (not at the desk at the mo, so canโt check the name), but it works well.
Within the GNU/Linux ecosystem there are all kinds of tools to diagnose the system, or rather, to check the state of the hardware, but there are few distributions specifically designed to perform this task, or at least that I know of, because the only distribution I know that is intended to diagnose the computer, (Or โโat...
Yeah +1 for Parted Magic - Iโve been using it for years, professionally.
Has hardware stress testing, SMART checking, etc.
It costs actual money, but thatโs the fee for creating the whole thing, which Iโm fine withโฆ I could make something similar with a Live USB distro (I use Arch btw), but Parted Magic can run entirely in RAM, so after booting you can remove the boot stick - useful for machines with only 1 USB port - and Iโve not worked out how to do that with my own DIY live distro
Iโve started looking at Ansible to manage all the laptops, VMs, SBCs that I have running Arch Got the olโ pacman installs / updates working fine, but Iโm having some problems understanding how to setup AUR to install some of those packages....
