Greg Jericho provides a plain speaking assessment of the ‘Labor’ government’s priorities - which appears to be doing anything but to help the unemployed. What he calls the Budget Commandment: “Everything is affordable if we choose to care about it”. It is worth the read.

The current ‘Labor’ government talks a big game about the Hawke/Keating legacy, but has not followed in their footsteps in helping those unlucky Australians who need the most help.

What is the actual point of having a Labor government?

The French parliament has passed legislation that will enable the Government to set a floor price for farmers products, which is reviewable every four months.

The change will guarantee a minimum rate of return for French farmers.

It seems to me that if we are ever going to break the monopoly power of and in , then this is the sort of forward thinking approach needed by the Government.

They would, of course, just have to locate their collective back bone again (last seen when they changed the Stage 3 tax cuts, but misplaced soon afterwards) and stop being a largely pointless waste of space.

David Littleproud pretends that he represents rural farming communities.*

Rural communities include some of the poorest communities in the nation

One might have thought that Littleproud would be ecstatic that the redistributed Stage 3 tax cuts will benefit the people he pretends to represent and not the ‘latter sipping elites in the cities’ But apparently not.

  • The Nationals actually represent big mining and don’t give a tinkers cuss for rural communities.

I see that ’s most despised former Prime Minister has finally, after almost two years, found himself a job in the USA … largely because no one in Australia was willing to take the reputational risk of employing him.

Good luck to you SlowMo, bugger off to America and don’t come back … unless it is on a boat …

I notice a lot of Australia’s major listed companies have lifted their annual profits or posted record profits - Woolworths and Qantas come to mind. That means that they didn’t just make the same obscene amount of profit as last year - they made more.

So every dollar you spend at Woolworths, remember the food is costing you more because they are making a record profit … in the middle of a cost of living crisis. They are screwing you for something you need to keep living - food.

All this goes to prove that we are in a Profit Price Spiral and not a wage price spiral.

Worker deserve decent pay rises that match inflation. Wages are not driving inflation.
