@ahrimans_erbe @actuallyautistic it took me years to discover that I never stare at someone's eyes but a point behind (nose and mouth especially). Eye contact is awfully unnatural to me, it gives me a feeling of fear, vulnerability and absurdity, just as if I had to put off my clothes.
But I manage somewhat to fake eye contact since nobody has ever said to me that I don't look in the eyes. Thanks to my strabismus, I'd say 🤣

But in fact, with ADHD, my mind NEVER stops working, except while sleeping. I don't really know what true rest is.

In fact, I often focus only for 10-15 min and then I need to do/think about smth else for 1 or 2 min. It's been so long I even didn't notice until I shared a room with a colleague (by chance, our computers hide us one from the other 😅)

@clouddweller @actuallyautistic yes, in fact I sometimes wonder if I shouldn't buy that tshirt "I run on coffee and sarcasm".
I love absurd humour or irony, especially on difficult subjects (death, disease...) bc it's a way to deal with them (and life is mostly absurd btw). But it took me time to fully understand that ppl dont like or understand irony, and that they feel ill at ease with my jokes, seeing me as disrespectful. So I try to keep these jokes for a few friends who understand it.

Il va falloir rappeler et même marteler que les voitures électriques n'existent pas pour "sauver la planète", mais pour sauver l'industrie automobile. Les dégâts et les conséquences de reproduire le modèle de la bagnole à tout prix, même en mode électrique, sont absolument énormes.

@jbouchez oui c'est vrai, mais en attendant quand t'as pas de transports en commun on de possibilité de faire du vélo, mieux vaut encore un petit véhicule full électrique qu'une voiture qui pollue (à condition d'avoir une électricité qui ne soit pas produite au charbon...)

Cultura présente, dans le rayon "psychologie de l'enfant" deux livres de pur bullshit.
J'ai pas pris en photo "Coacher son enfant atypique" mais ce titre-là aussi en novlangue de startup naycheune m'a donné envie de cramer des trucs.
Je vous passe aussi la taille des rayons pseudo-sciences et pseudo-bien-être 😱

À l'aide les , mon chat (4 ans) qui est chez nous depuis 4 ans s'est mis à faire pipi dans la salle de douche (pas dans le bac) dès que quelqu'un a le malheur de laisser la porte ouverte. Il ne faisait pas ça avant. Ça a commencé il y a 2 semaines.

Est-ce que vous avez des conseils pour qu'il arrête (mais ne fasse pas ailleurs non plus) ?

Son bac est propre, nettoyé tous les jours.
Il n'a pas assez de croquettes selon lui, mais on l'a mis au régime il y a un an, donc pas récent

    The term “self-diagnosed” developed wide acceptance and use prior to my realization that I am autistic. I honor and value the history of my communities of autistics by understanding the meaning being communicated by that term. I do not try to change anyone’s use of that term, but I do not use it myself. I share this here in case others have similar ideas or want to discuss.

    I strongly believe that no one is entitled to know any diagnosis of another. That information can be shared freely by the person diagnosed but should never be required. This goes for autism, mental health conditions, pregnancy, HIV infection, and even COVID infection.

    Diagnoses are tied to medical, psychiatric, and educational institutions that perpetuate racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, classism, eugenics, and more. The existence of well-meaning professionals and the benefits of sharing commonly understood categorizations do not eliminate the danger that can be associated with knowledge if diagnoses. Thus, every individual should have full control over who has access to that knowledge, in order to maintain agency over their own lives.

    It is my best guess that I would meet the current diagnostic criteria for ASD. If I were to say that I am self-diagnosed, that would be what I mean. But I do not say that. Now that I understand what autism is, I do not care whether I meet the criteria for ASD. I simply communicate that I am autistic. How others interpret that communication is up to them.

    Weird. Like, you define yourself as autist, and, in the same sentence, you affirm you don't care about the definition of autism (or ASD if you find it more suitable) 🤔. But autism isn't an experience restricted to you, so autists are a group sharing similarities that, taken together, define ASD. You just can't throw them away and then affirm you're autist.

    Les bras m'en tombent! ma fille fait sa rentrée à la fac aujourd'hui. L''amphi était trop petit pour accueillir tout le monde, l'université a fait appel à la sécurité pour virer une 60 aine d'étudiants pourtant dûment inscrits😳 ! Vous aviez déjà eu écho de ce genre de pratiques?!

    J'ai déjà refusé des étudiants en TD pour la même raison (surnombre). Les salles étaient déjà d'ailleurs assez invivables comme ça.

    Mais bon, la cause était différente : ils avaient changé de groupe de TD en douce, sans m'en avertir et sans justificatif (alors que les règles étaient claires depuis la rentrée : en raison de la taille des groupes, aucun échange non justifié accepté).

    Par contre j'ai aussi connu les cours assis par terre...

    Ajd dans le TGV.
    Une dame maghrébine monte dans le train avec ses deux petites filles (4 et 7 ans au doigt mouillé). Elles s'installent mais au moment où la dame va pour aller ranger sa valise, la plus jeune des deux se barre dans le couloir et ne veut pas retourner à sa place. La mère envoie l'aînée la chercher. La gamine attrape sa sœur (qui proteste évidemment) et lui dit, pour qu'elle la suive :
    "Attention il y a des policiers, viens vite te cacher sur mon siège !"

    Réussite immédiate...

    @CynAq @actuallyautistic when I was 6 or 7, I asked my grandma (the only somewhat religious person I had) : "well, if God is the only god in heaven, where are living the others, like Allah, Jehovah or Vishnu ?". It seemed that these stories were too wtf for me still !

    Around 9, I was briefly amazed by Christian religion teaching that all of us were welcomed and loved in the eyes of this guy named Jesus, but it was a very short period of my life 😅

    @yourautisticlife @autism101 @actuallyautistic luckily, I almost never had sleeping issues, despite anxiety and ADHD. When I have troubles sleeping, relaxing herbals and melatonin help me falling asleep. The troubles never last more than a month.

    Concerning blue light, it doesn't prevent me from sleeping I think, but I have a filter on my glasses.

    @autisticbookclub @actuallyautistic on my mom's side, most of the family runs "tribe mod" : mom, aunts, grandma living less than 20km, cousins not that far (I'm one of the farest), seeing each other weekly. I don't want to live that close, but I admit these strong relations are reassuring as a sort of lighthouse, something natural that secures me, and I'm often a bit surprised when ppl tell me they dont know the name of their cousins ! ^^
    On my father's side, ppl are more distant.

    @autisticbookclub @actuallyautistic well idk how to say that, but when I see most of the other families (my friends' for example) or the general social mood about family relationship (the apology of nuclear family and individualism), it seems that my mom's family directly comes from another age in which "family" means "clan" and not only "mother-father-child".
    Personal opinion : this clanic way of life has many pros in our modern era and we should have more mainstream models like that.

    @DimitriFayolle @scudery @oschwand fonction publique hospitalière d'échelon inconnu après 3 ans de grade "précaire oubliable" à l'université. Murmure à l'oreille des bactéries, a un bureau intimiste à 5 postes qui fait parfois divan de psycho. Fait mieux chialer les gens que les oignons. Sait repérer la seule blouse propre du vestiaire et dormir les yeux ouverts en réunion (pq je sais pas faire le café).
    Je peux vous organiser des soirées défouraillage de dragons, dés non inclus.

    @CynAq @actuallyautistic it took me months and many conflicts to work that way and still don't understand why losing so much time and energy in silly politics and dealing with professors's susceptibility instead of aiming at the best for the patients together.

    Bc of that I was often considered as arrogant or bad-tempered. Always seemed unfair to me.
