@Eeyore_Syndrome@sh.itjust.works

I cooked food for 20 years. Now I build computers and dive down Linux 🐇 🕳️ on a personal learning journey.

Mostly, I cat sit and watch anime when not gaming or editing files.

Fibromyalgia sucks! Existence is pain and resistance is futile. Thanks for noticing me.

I’ve always been AMD myself.

Unfortunately I’ve had an Asus Strix Vega 64 suffer from voltage spikes and ended up seeing it has bad quality control thermal pads ❎

Then seeing Asus melt motherboards with the AM5 X3Ds at launch 🤔…

I think the current generation of Power Color was having a similar issues with thermal pads, but don’t quote me on that. My PC 5700xt and 6900xt Red Devils worked fine.

I went with Sapphire this go round for my 7900xtx.

Make friends, resell old parts. Subsidize upgrades 🙃

What I really love is being able to edit my titles, in case I make a typo.

I remember a man I worked with used to do electrical engineering in Kuwait, with 🌴s being on 🔥 was sorta normal.

I agree east coast being on fire is sadness.

I recall this episode of the 90s outer limits:

Hits too close to home now.

I love that the new Fallout Boy cover of “We didn’t start the fire” starts with “Captain Planet”.

If you ever watch The Expanse, I love looking at the holo-billboards of things.

There’s definitely a cricket protein plant on an aerial shot of earth.

Elite Dangerous Odyssey has fun holo-billboards in game as well for grub protein. 🥹

[Announcement] TheDude has upgraded the server from 0.18.0 to 0.18.1 RC

TheDude recently upgraded the server to the most recent version of Lemmy. You’ll notice significant improvements to the user interface, and hopefully the functionality is also improved. There is no official changelog yet because this version is not yet finalized, but I’ll link the GitHub releases page where it should...

A 💩 person:

Should ask what Lemmy users. Unless they are just throwing us all in the same stereotype.

lemmy.grad is probably where you want to go view for some examples. Questionably lemmy.ml.

🐐 Has

To document and journal their spewage examples.

The 4k Remaster of Alien looks 🔥 on an OLED They said they were gonna remaster the others…am still waiting 😭

The audio is 🔥 too. Not ATMOS but has 5.1 HD-DTS, which is still miles above the cruddy mono speaker we had on our CRT tv growing up -.-

Reasons I would get trigged on Linux sub reddits included - People asking for tech support for neon while gaming etc…

Something something about it’s not a daily driver…🤗😲😮

I’m always excited for Plasma developments and await when updates go live on Kinoite ❤️.

You realize they develop Jerboa right?

It’s also on GitHub and Fdroid.

It’s also open source so communities are contributing to other apps as well eh.

join-lemmy.org/apps

Also can simply use your mobile browser.

Firefox can simply install Lemmy instances as web apps…

This post hurts my head.

Eeyore_Syndrome,
@Eeyore_Syndrome@sh.itjust.works avatar

Was happening to me on Jeroba with the version before current one on a P7 Pro.

Current version works just fine now tho.

[Discussion] Lemmy instance that works as a reddit mirror

Hi, I hope this is an appropriate place to post this question. I was wondering if there was a lemmy instance that would mirror some subreddits and their posts? I was thinking that one way it could work is essentially all posts that meet certain criteria would also be scraped by a bot and posted in the lemmy instance. If this is...

Hopefully soon they won’t have content to pull from. 🥹

Eeyore_Syndrome,
@Eeyore_Syndrome@sh.itjust.works avatar

…but is there a way to edit a post yet?

I’ve been using Jerboa to edit posts and view profiles…and Thunder to view/vote/reply @.@

It's even funnier when I need to use webcord to use Discord inside chromium to get screen sharing working on Wayland on Linux -.-

I'm not loving the RSS/Reddit bot posts really, I'm personally blocking a lot of such lemmy-bots.

I'm a fan of people sharing links and starting conversations or showing off an interesting/shiny thing with the communities themselves.

To.....maybe be not Reddit for a change. 🤔

Then again I'm an elder Millennial and remember live journal and myspace.

I mean I'm here weening off reddit as well.

Could see the benefit of temporarily posting reddit moderator/pin posts or such. Emphasis on temporary.

But the daily influx of such stuff when I attempt to view All as New is certainly a journey.

Eeyore_Syndrome,
@Eeyore_Syndrome@sh.itjust.works avatar

Although when I see such communities not having any replies to reddit share/RSS/bot on Lemmy communities`, work days or a week it starts to feel like that fire 🔥 isn't starting.

Just upgraded to my first 240Hz display.

I've got the Samsung Odyssey G65B 32". Upgraded from a 165Hz IPS AOC AG271QG. So far so good. It's definitely much faster response time and it's so smooth as long as I can maintain the FPS high. Though mainly the colors and contrast stand out the most. I was worried about QC issues but did not notice anything out of whack yet....

Eeyore_Syndrome,
@Eeyore_Syndrome@sh.itjust.works avatar

I had to remember to check the OSD controls to enable 240hz.

Works amazing on Linux with my Sapphire Nitro+ 7900XTX.

Elite Dangerous Odyssey and Diablo IV are my current jams. Full fame amazing-ness.

Upgraded from my 144hz 1440p IPS LED Gigabit and this is really way better for better blacks/space games for certain.

I use new pipe on my phone, smart tube next on my Nvidia Shield.

So what's currently up with Druids? Are they okay to play, or no?

I am literally just starting, and my friends that I'm gonna play with are telling me "pick anything but a druid, they're bad". But then I see articles out there saying that Druids are one of the most powerful at end game. Any thoughts from some of you that have been playing?

@Eeyore_Syndrome@sh.itjust.works avatar

I'm lv 72 now. Am loving my Landslide, Petrify, Trample build.

Don't be me tho, I didn't do class quest to unlock the Druid Passive boons till Lv ~37. Granted by then I at least had enough of the items to unlock every one of them.

You want your most OP essence on your weapon, and the second best one on your amulet as they give bonuses to them.

The essences you get from dungeons have the lowest stats, if you find gear with better essence rolls/% make sure to extract it for later.

Won't link all my aspects, but the landslide one and the trample one are what make it golden

All jive well together for the big pew pews.

Feel like an earth bender or earth/rock ninja, but with angry-bear-bringing the landslide spamms.

I've been using Premiumize.me+Kodi+Tmdb Helper running with Seren and syncing with trakt.tv on my Nvidia Shield 4k Pro 2019.

Artic Horizons 2 skin.

Only issue is playing some [Dolby VISION] .MP4/.MKV one of the formats, I can't ever remember which, is simply all green/pink bad color and also tends to overrun CDN cache/buffers.......

No issues for 720p-4kHDR/Stereo-[Dolby ATMOS] things otherwise.

And the shields upscaling is halfway decent.

Added bonus of not being sad when my Smart TV stops getting updates.

(I have a LG C9, webOS already stopped getting updates and I don't care.) 🤗

Added bonus using premiumize.me as a Seedbox for streaming torrents I download to it when things fail to be found/play through my normal means. So no needing a VPN.

I only subscribe during Black Friday/Cyber Monday so it's been $116/2 yrs service.

Fedora Kinoite:

Technically Universal Blue:

I was on Fedora KDE since 32.

But as of late, RPM Fusion drops the ball more and more often.

Package lag time was breaking updates on my AMD system even. Unless you swap mesa/mesa-freeworld back to update....

Because I like hardware acceleration and encoding/decoding -.-

Universal Blue takes the pain away for AMD and Nvidia users alike. Think Chromebook easy but it's Fedora.

I'm embracing Flatpaks now. For things not available as flatpaks, I just export from a toolbox or Distrobox.

I have a messy writeup here:

I thank Steam Deck for making me realize immutable/cloud based image-Desktop isn't scary anymore.
