Also an excellent method.

That’s helpful. Thank you.

HA, funny that this comes up. DND Beyond doesn’t have a d100, so I opened my ChatGPT sub and had it roll a d100 for me a few times so I could use my magic beans properly.

James Webb telescope confirms there is something seriously wrong with our understanding of the universe (www.livescience.com)

Astronomers have used the James Webb and Hubble space telescopes to confirm one of the most troubling conundrums in all of physics — that the universe appears to be expanding at bafflingly different speeds depending on where we look....

On a cosmic scale, I find it kind of comforting that everything is eventually going to be gone. It makes it more important to enjoy one’s time in the now.

That’s a caveat I can get behind.

It makes me chuckle how, in a country where we’re spending a trillion and a half on war every year, if not more, half of the comments are like “but it costs too much”.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

I hate that we know how shitty both of our ruling parties are on this issue (among others) and we are powerless to stop it.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

I don’t agree with conscription.

Your country shouldn’t be able to force you to kill people, and if the US ever tried to make me, I’d flee too. War only really serves the interests of the rich anyway.

While I’m skeptical anything would come of it, I’ve made it a ritual to wait for the $20 ticket sale every year because the fees have gotten so insane.

This is the kind of story I want to see made into an epic film.

This is Democrats’ M.O. for most issues.

They spout platitudes and promises like a geyser during election season, and then when the reins of power are in their hands, they ignore pretty much every other issue and figure out ways to put money in the hands of warmongers and CEO’s.

On the issue of Israel, Democrats and Republicans have exactly the same position.

On behalf of the unwashed proles: Thank you.

Still on Dragon’s Dogma 2. (at 94 hours of playtime)

I’m still finding new places around every corner. It’s got a ton of fun stuff to discover if you like open-world games.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

That’s okay.

It’s definitely not for everyone. I like it because it’s fun to explore the world they’ve built, but it’ll be more fun when the launch bugs are worked out.

Mega drive-throughs explain everything wrong with American cities (www.vox.com)

Just outside St. Louis, in the inner-ring suburb of University City, there’s a little neighborhood often called the region’s unofficial Chinatown. Growing up in the area, it was one of my favorite places to be; reflective of the city’s diversity and vitality, it opened up the world to me. This past December, when I went...

I always park and walk in too.

It’s almost always easier.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Yeah, there’s no way.

With our major media networks owned by billionaires, and all of them propagating the narrative that criticism of Israel = antisemitism, I think it’s a fair presumption that they all have a naughty words list.

We heard very similar arguments for every war we’ve involved ourselves in since WWII. I recall in 1983 when we absolutely had to render assistance to the good guy, Saddam Hussein, and then a few years later he pointed those weapons at us.

Given enough time, historical precedent will indicate that we were lied to to some degree, and it always boils down to making wealthier people even wealthier. (In this case, warmongers.)

It’s not an attack so much as a reminder that, yeah, our government is doing an exceedingly shitty job of taking care of its people, but they do a great job of making money we don’t actually have appear out of thin air for the war of the month.

@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Thank you for your response.

It’s so weird watching good things happen for the wrong reasons in the Federal Government.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

What substantial difference is there between Democrats and Republicans on Israel?

There isn’t one.

No matter who we elect, Israel gets its charity from the American taxpayer, even though we won’t fund health care or any real aid to our own people.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

It’s not a lie, though.

We do neglect our people’s needs so we can be involved in like nine wars at once, including Ukraine. Most countries provide for the basic needs of their people and can only maintain a sustained war for months at most.

It’s your right to support that. It’s my right to point out how remarkably shitty it is that we do this to our people.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

I mean, it’s legitimately a bright spot.

But with November of this year likely heralding the legitimacy of fascism in the US, it’s incumbent upon us to try enjoy the silly shit before that comes along.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Fair enough. Enjoy your awesome Neopet!

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

You speak as if it’s already decided.

I think it is. Trump won in 2016 because people were largely impoverished and Democrats didn’t do anything about it. The impoverishment is worse now.

BUT, that does make it more important to enjoy the silly shit. Absolutely.
