In 1926, he jointly received the Nobel Peace Prize for the Locarno Treaties, which aimed at reconciliation between France & Germany after WW1. To avoid another worldwide conflict he supported the Kellogg–Briand Pact of 1929, as well as working to establish a "European Union" in 1929. His efforts were compromised by the rise of nationalistic & revanchist ideas like Nazism & Fascism following the Great Depression.
