[Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism?

Seen a lot of posts on Lemmy with vegan-adjacent sentiments but the comments are typically very critical of vegan ideas, even when they don’t come from vegans themselves. Why is this topic in particular so polarising on the internet? Especially since unlike politics for example, it seems like people don’t really get upset by...

Ilikecheese,

That’s definitely not true. Just yesterday I was eating a salad (with chicken and bacon and cheese even) and I had an older coworker pass by and grumpily tell me he didn’t eat rabbit food.

Ilikecheese,

It’s not though. Even though we’d prefer a different candidate, everyone who isn’t a complete moron has at least agreed that we’re gonna stick with Biden because he’s better than the alternative and it’s not even close.

Ilikecheese,

You have to put the instance name if you want to search for a user. I just did the same search on voyager for dubyakay@lemmy.ca and it went straight to their profile.

Otherwise yeah, the search probably defaults to only users on your server.

Ilikecheese,

I thought so too, but then I tried it and I really hated it. If you find yourself getting recommended a bunch of clickbaity videos, then maybe it would be something you’d like, but I tend to block those types of creators so I don’t really see them, so all dearrow ever did for me was make the titles and thumbnails of some of the videos I normally would watch really boring and bland. I trust someone like Tom Scott or Smartereveryday to not use their titles and thumbnails to lie to me to fool me into watching their videos, and since those were the only types of creators that were being affected by dearrow for me, I found it worse when seeing their videos in my recommended list. I personally don’t mind watching a video titled “Why Blue LEDS were really hard to create” instead of seeing something like “This video is about how different colored LEDS were created” with some bland screenshot showing an assembly line of lights or whatever.

Ilikecheese,

I’ve been pirating media for the last 2 decades or more, and shows have always been available within minutes of when they were released. Copying a stream might be easier than setting up a capture card and recording a broadcast, but the wait time hasn’t really changed all that much.

Ilikecheese,

Is this the first time you’ve ever been exposed to humor?

Ilikecheese,

The Nintendo Switch Pro was sent back to House of Fraser in January

Dude had the only Switch Pro in existence and he got rid of it? He deserves the pants.

Ilikecheese,

Yes and no. On the one hand, it would be bad to say something like, this is a doll and girls and only girls can play with it, and this is a tractor and it’s only for the boys. At the same time, it would be nice to have some sort of idea if you’re getting a “traditional girl toy” or one aimed at more masculine thought of activities. I don’t know how you would separate those into categories without assigning gender to them though even though that’s outdated by today’s standards. Maybe something like putting “doll” or “truck” or “sports” or something and let people choose from those regardless of their gender identity.

Ilikecheese,

I don’t think the world needs to be that black and white. You’re basically describing the opposite extreme to one where only boys can play with boys toys and only girls get the frilly pink stuff. Life should always been about compromise and meeting in the middle. I don’t think there’s inherently anything wrong with having something that is traditionally thought of as masculine or feminine. The problem arises when you have someone who doesn’t fit in that box and you force them to conform to that standard.

Plus, gender issues aside, there just aren’t that many kids who would be equally exited to get a doll as they would to get a toy truck. Kids have preferences. And preferring one type of toy over another isn’t always going to be because someone forced them to like it, it could just be that they legitimately like them more.

Ilikecheese,

Wouldn’t that mean it’s a popular opinion and the downvote was warranted?

Ilikecheese,

I know I’m probably in the minority, but I’ve easily spent over $500, probably closer to $1000 on PSVR2 games, and I’ve played it almost every single day for the last year. I’ve never had VR before this, and I really enjoy mine. Before the VR2, My PS5 was mostly unused, and now I’m actually getting my money’s worth from it.

Ilikecheese,

For the record, I only downvoted you because of the multiple edits whining about being downvoted.

That’s like watching porn with your parents level of cringe right there.

Ilikecheese,

Ah, now you’ve got me in a dilemma. On the one hand, I’d love to never spend another second of my life dealing with your idiocy, but on the other hand it’s so much fun (and really fuckin easy) to piss off someone as dumb as you are by just typing a couple of words.

Decisions, decisions.

Ilikecheese,

How devoid of value is your life that you let a couple of meaningless downvotes get you this bent out of shape?

I will give you credit for creativity for somehow claiming victory because you managed to let so many people piss you off so many times.

Can you whine about it some more though, this is oh so much fun!

Ilikecheese,

Oh yeah. Ran through a ton of that. My nephews both have it on quest and it does seamless cross play compatibility with them. I was so impressed. The voice chat and multiplayer just work flawlessly.

Ilikecheese,

Yeah, nothing says “I’m not mad” more than multiple replies that are several paragraphs long.

Keep coping though.

Ilikecheese,

And you won’t even know when or even if you succeed

The book reports you keep throwing up in response beg to differ.

Ilikecheese,

no u

Ilikecheese,

Stay mad, little guy.

Ilikecheese,

Don’t make it weird, man, just fume without trying to work out whatever sex kink you have going on. This isn’t the place.

Ilikecheese,

You’re not going to convert a Trump voter because you tried to force a dark Brandon meme

They’ve already shown that nothing up to and including Trump literally murdering their family members would convert them. Of course a meme isn’t going to, it’s not about that. It’s about taking something they think they’re being clever about and turning it back on them in an actual clever way. If the Dark Brandon memes were started in a void, I might agree with you that they were dumb, but as a reply to the LGB meme, I think they’re excellent.

There’s nothing funny or clever about it

I mean, humor is subjective, but I gotta say you’re most likely in the minority of people with average or above average intelligence (aka non-Trump voters) with that opinion. To be honest, I checked your post history to see if you were one of them because you are giving off that iq-is-slightly-lower-than-room-temp vibe here.

Ilikecheese,

What does this have to do with the Onion/parody sites? Isn’t that a legit list?

Ilikecheese,

the writing here is very humorous.

We’re gonna have to agree to disagree on that one.
