Research does not support the widespread belief that blue light emitted by electronic device screens in the evening is worse than warmer colored light when trying to fall asleep.
My next #WeblogPoMo2024 post is an expansion of an earlier thread on Mastodon.
I was curious about what percentage of people visiting my site had set preferences for light/dark mode, reduced motion, or increased contrast. I also wanted to know what percentage had HDR support.
I figured out how to do that custom tracking with @plausible and wrote a tutorial.
I have been writing at least an hour every day as part of #WeblogPoMo2024. I never intended to publish daily, but I also have not published nearly as much as I had hoped. This post was a result of 3 other related posts that are almost ready. Maybe I will meet half my goal of 5 published posts this month…
Today in “community servers were a mistake”: I got temporarily banned from mastodon dot green for this gif, so I no longer recommend it as a community server.
I really, really wish Mastodon supported importing old posts from an old community server and the old community server responding with HTTP 308 Permanent Redirect for old posts to their new URL because #CoolURIsDontChange.
After difficulty finding cafes with plant-based milk options around my hotel, I reluctantly bought coffee from Starbucks in Seoul.
The catch: Unlike with the cow tit milk orders, they served my iced latte in separate cups I had to pour together. 3 times now. I asked why twice, but got non-answers.
I will forever remember Korea bringing the fajita experience to vegan lattes.
(Spare me Reply Guy boilerplate disclaimer: I dislike Starbucks’s anti-union stance and its burnt coffee taste.)
What does “you have to respect their culture” mean in practice when given as a reply to my commentary on South Korea not having same-sex rights and not permitting most ADHD medication?
Genuinely asking since this has been said to me multiple times.
I must follow their laws as a tourist, obviously. I’m rambling into an online abyss, not protesting outside an embassy or kissing my husband in public.
Fast food restaurants now seem to have protein-rich, plant-based options more reliably than other dining options in European airports. I’ve rarely had to eat my emergency vegan bars when traveling the last 2 years.
