I recorded a quick demo of the current state of the Wayland-native accessibility stack I'm developing for @gnome (and eventually other free desktops), code-named Newton. In the demo, I run the GNOME Podcasts app on the Newton accessibility stack, using my GTK branch that integrates AccessKit. So in principle, the same app should also work on Windows, and soon, macOS. So our new fascist government is going to double down on our already horrible asylum policies:

• No decisions about granting asylum (it already takes ages now)
• Asylum will only be temporary
• More forced expulsions
• Resisting expulsion will become illegal
• No automatic family reunification
• No appeals in court cases
• No priority for refugees in housing

Also I'm assuming the abysmal living conditions in refugee locations are only going to get worse.

Sooo apparently Dutch primary schools are using algorithms to decide which children are at risk of failing and need extra learning material, and ChatGPT to detect fraud. Yes, in primary school.

A few years ago we had a major scandal about people's lives being ruined after algorithms had incorrectly marked them for social benefits fraud. Guess we didn't learn this shit is just shit.

To get a glance of the #aurora yesterday, I walked up to the #forest. When I arrived at the entrance, I looked into the darkness, and realised that going into a pitch dark forest alone is probably not the smartest idea I've had, especially as I'm very much a city person.

I turned around, and ran into some people who also wanted to see the aurora, so I partied up with them, We walked through the forest for a few hours, climbed a big hill, saw no aurora, but had a good time.
