AI: “I speak whale”

The rest of the world: “No you don’t”

The “Don’t Tread on Me” crowd sure isn’t protecting peaceful protesters. Not one time have I ever seen “the second protects the first” show up and run off the police.

Nah, libertarians can’t even agree on what it means to be a libertarian. Quit dictacting what other libertarians should believe.

Federal judge halts new U.S. rules limiting credit card late fees | Bank lobbyists challenged the legality of the cap, which was set to take effect next week. (wapo.st)

The judge is a Trump appointee.. I’ll also note that he’s in Texas, where the rules against judge-shopping aren’t being applied, so the suit was likely filed with advance knowledge that he’d be hearing it.

Fucking crazy to think that Oklahoma sucks less than Texas these days.

Or… We could just talk about It on social media and in the news then enough of us will ignore the story in lieu of a single issue that we are completely misinformed on and vote him back in and allow him to escape without significant consequences.

I’m not arguing, just saying it’s wild to think about.

Questions are of far less value than quality experiments with good documentation.

Kalkaline,
@Kalkaline@leminal.space avatar

It needs to be paired with quality experiments, and when that data shows consistent results, those results should be accepted. Asking things like “is the Earth flat” or “does the Covid vaccine kill people” without accepting the wealth of data that’s already out there is of little value.

I suppose from a harm reduction standpoint the big question is: has vaping dropped chronic disease that has been traditionally linked to tobacco products or is it equally or more dangerous than traditional tobacco products? If it’s reducing mortality and disease, then that’s a good thing overall even it still poses some risk to long term health. Obviously you don’t want to use traditional tobacco products or vape products if you want a healthy cardiovascular system.

Oxygen toxicity is an iatrogenic illness caused by exposure to high FIO2 during oxygen therapy. Oxygen saturation should be monitored in patients receiving supplemental O2. As the oxygen gets metabolized, some molecules convert to superoxide anions known as hydroxyl radicals, which are human tissue toxic. The resulting pathophysiological changes at the alveolar level result in decreases in lung compliance, diffusing capacity, and PaO2 levels. Central nervous system (CNS) toxicity can occur with exposure to high partial pressures of oxygen. Acute changes in the lungs resulting from oxygen toxicity consist of alveolar and interstitial edema, alveolar hemorrhages, and proteinaceous exudates. Further prolonged exposure to oxygen leads to a proliferative phase, which includes the proliferation of type II epithelial cells and fibroblasts, followed by collagen deposits. Exposure to FIO2s greater than 0.60 for as little as 24 to 48 hours can lead to severe irreversible pulmonary fibrosis.[6][7]

‘Like wildfires underwater’: Worst summer on record for Great Barrier Reef as coral die-off sweeps planet | CNN (www.cnn.com)

The corals are casualties of surging global temperatures which have smashed historical records in the past year — caused mainly by fossil fuels driving up carbon emissions and accelerated by the El Niño weather pattern, which heats ocean temperatures in this part of the world.

It would be interesting to see if a CRISPR type technology could make coral reefs more resilient to climate change.

Clearly not enough for Russia. They want more of their young men going into the meat grinder. Just go home and live a life of peace, give back the land you took, never come back to Ukraine. It could all be over today.

You just need to know what happens to the elements on the periodic table that have the highest atomic weights. Here’s the article for Lawrencium give that a quick read through and then try to figure out why the universe is almost certainly not a very large atom as we define it.

Ayn Rand is where modern right wing ideology started. You really don’t need to read a whole book, she beats you over the head with the message repeatedly.

Fast forward to the Rush Limbaugh talk show and listen to some of his monologues.

Then jump back to Mein Kampf to see the future of the right wing.

It’s all bullshit, and it’s easy to fall down the rabbit hole of right wing talking points. Ask critical questions like what happens to the most vulnerable populations under that system and you realize quickly that it’s Sparta all over again and they will be actively killed because they believe in eugenics.
