Given the law suit that has just been launched over Transmission Gully and the seeming impossibility of accurately estimating the costs of these projects PPP should be the last thing we are looking at.

Rain garden.

This is the reality of rain gardens which require ongoing maintenance to keep them weed free.

This area is mainly planted with oioi.

There is blackberry throughout most of the area and large patches of pampas as well.

Rain gardens are great but they need to be appropriately managed.

KorimakoEcology,

@McNJules Yes I'm aware of another development which is in a similar state. It's a real shame.

    Horrible.

There were reports of a dog fighting ring in Moerewa last year, I wonder if this is related.

"A two-decade-old experiment in the tropical rainforest of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, is beginning to reveal that human-assisted restoration of logged forests can increase the speed of an ecosystem’s recovery.

The researchers also found that planting a diverse suite of seedlings, instead of only one species, led in just one decade to greater biomass and forest complexity."

You may have missed this earlier. Piracy came close to disappearing, then streaming companies decided to push for better margins. Guess what happened next?

    https://billbennett.co.nz/digital-piracy/

    KorimakoEcology,

@billbennett I used to "acquire" everything. Paid for Netflix and Disney for quite a few years now but everything has splintered so much there are sometimes shows/movies I want to watch that I don't want to sign up for another streaming service.

I think the video game industry has a much better model. I get most of what I want from Xbox Gamepass and freebies through Epic. Anything else I will buy and I'm happy to do that every now and then.

I’ve never really been in to electronic music other than the more electronic side of Radiohead and Thom Yorke’s weird solo stuff.

Anybody familiar with that genre of music want to throw me some recommendations?

    KorimakoEcology,

@HailsandAles It's such a broad genre but here's some stuff to try: https://youtu.be/mWMHqO3fjFg?si=csBxd4LGLbuoAcZA

Encouraging people to learn Te Reo and basic history is not political.

    KorimakoEcology,

@ojala It's only political because racists are trying to suppress it. It's as simple as that.

I did Latin in High School and learnt about the 6 Day War in History class. Funny how no one complained about that being political.

I got a lot of personal grief and a few threats when I wrote about the NFT market being like the Dutch tulip mania and that they would soon be worthless.

    KorimakoEcology,

@billbennett It was an odd bunch of very fragile men who believed most strongly in NFTs. Any criticism of NFTs was seen as a personal affront.

@derthomas This is one hell of a song.

    KorimakoEcology,

    @derthomas It's incredible.

I didn't like it when I first heard it too.

Reckoner has a special meaning for me for a particular group at new years, one of whom passed away a few years later.
