Ah yes, because Alex Garland never makes films that provide a cautionary examination and instead is a complete advocate for bringing those dystopian settings to real life. /s

Oh yeah, essentially the same thing is just slapping some sauced-up spaghetti between two slices of warm garlic bread, with an extra bit of sauce on the side to dip it in every other bite. Health-wise I wouldn’t recommend doing it often, but it is delicious.

Steins;Gate is my #1 but I admit I count Steins;Gate 0 as part of it.

spoilerThe original is a very well told story and an impressive adaptation that stands on its own as one of the best and one of my favorites. But, that mind-blowing ending message that saves them in the end can be viewed as a Deus Ex Machina by some, which I get. Albeit, it uses time travel to its advantage to make it work extremely well in context and is emotionally satisfying, but even so can still feel a bit too convenient. That is, until you see just how much pain and misery and effort went into creating that mind-blowing ending message via Steins;Gate 0. It makes it perfectly clear that it’s not a Deus Ex Machina at all, but a slow, crawling struggle to reach a point where they realize they can send the message that saves them in the original series. You finally see there was nothing convenient at all about it and the amount of emotional suffering that had to happen to get to that point is so incredibly detailed that it adds an entirely new dimension of emotional satisfaction at how things are able to end happily in the original. Absolutely spectacular storytelling. ___

The first Psycho-Pass is also up there for me as a top-tier Sci-Fi anime, though it’s my #1 philosophy anime which is the lens I usually view it in. I never thought I’d see a futuristic conspiracy anime where the best battles aren’t the slick action sequences, but the philosophical debates (you give me a cop forced into their position against their will, arguing with a criminal about Pascal’s philosophies and responding with José Ortega y Gasset’s famous quote, and I’ll remember it forever as one of my favorite scenes of all time).

Dang I remember this episode fairly well but not this particular screenshot. Just looked it up and you are spot on, well done!

This looks like a skill from Disco Elysium if it was a dating sim instead of a lynchian RPG.

Would be great for an unarmed build in a Fallout: New Vegas mod. Also would be great for an action anime character’s weapon.

I just looked it up and yeah that’s what I had in mind! Also, fun fight scenes with that weapon.

Conan handled the writers strike and this very issue so magnificently. We got Jordan Schlansky because of lack of content during the strike and he continued to pay idled employees personally out of his own pocket so that no one would lose a paycheck and no one felt pressured to “scab” to survive. A comedic master and a class act.

This was tragically uplifting, satisfyingly tragic, and really felt as much like a Benson and Moorhead movie as it did a Marvel series. Loved that little taste of dread that came with the noble sacrifice to an eternity of glorious purpose!

When it sunk it that reversing time was more than just a clever puzzle mechanic, I did a lot of self reflecting.

If you haven’t checked it out, I highly suggest the game Disco Elysium. It’s similar in that the more beautifully-written context you learn about, the more it transcends the plot and explores the themes. You can check out a playthrough of the first parts of gameplay to get a taste of its writing style but it continues to evolve as you level up the voices of your own conscience to the point of genuine wisdom or sheer madness (or leave them oblivious which is also fun).

Has it been fun?

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a good web series. If you adapt your dream journal to a web series community on Lemmy let me know, sounds interesting.

@aslafoo, don’t skip on this – this is the answer! I had a very bad experience last year that ended up causing me to develop OCD and it was mind-boggling how I couldn’t stop myself from giving into it, I’ve never experienced anything like it.

Finally brought it to my doctor, got prescribed medication that ultimately fixed the problem. Also was told to look into cognitive behavioral therapy, which I did, and found it extremely helpful as well (though I’m doing so well that I don’t want to risk coming off the meds just because the cognitive behavioral therapy practices were helpful). My doctor also gave me a referral to both a psychiatrist (in case I had side effects from the medication that lasted beyond the adjustment period and needed to explore other options, which I didn’t) and a psychologist (to be guided through cognitive behavioral therapy professionally, which I didn’t end up doing because my insurance no longer had a contract with them and by the time the American healthcare system re-referred me to another office I had no more symptoms). Basically my primary care physician gave me everything I needed to get my life back.

100% it was worth bringing to my doctor and I recommend doing the same. Don’t wait on it. Consider getting some cheap fidget toys to fill your hands in the days leading up to your scheduled appointment but schedule it for as soon as possible.

Perfect Dark with dual analog controls is something I’ve wanted to exist and now it does! No Mac support though, gonna have to maybe take another look at clearing things out to make room for boot camp.

Holy freakin moley I never knew this, that means I might be able to give it a shot on my mac sometime even without this new port. For anyone else as unfortunate as me that’s gaming on an old mac, I found the tutorial for how to set this up by Eggyhead.

Miss Minutes grinning like a psychopath was so perfectly creepy. Her gleefulness at everyone dying, contrasted with Renslayer staring indiffrently and Brad’s horrified reluctance to even look, was a smart way to show each character had different motivations for participating in the massacre. Benson and Moorhead do a great job directing this kind of stuff!
