Nothing is too niche for modders to remaster, not even a '90s Star Wars FPS expansion pack where you play as Luke Skywalker's weird non-canon wife rescuing my favorite Expanded Universe dork (www.pcgamer.com)

Luke Skywalker had a weird wife named Mara Jade who was a femme fatal ex-Sith assassin with a purple lightsaber. Chewbacca died at the age of 225 years old when Star Wars’ Aldi brand Borg dropped a moon on him. The Death Star plans were not stolen by a ragtag bunch of rebel soldiers that included beloved martial arts leading...

MagicShel,

I disagree, but you’re entitled to your opinion same as everyone else. There were a lot of bad EU materials and the Thrawn trilogy was a high water line.

That said, it fell prey to being yet another fucking super-weapon and dark Jedi story. It’s quintessential Star Wars but so played out.

“We’re wiping the canon back to just the movies to have room to tell stories in this great universe.”

Thirty minutes later…

“So now hyperspace takes moments and you don’t need to bother with coordinates. Hell, you can jump through shields and into and out of atmospheres.”

Welp, new continuity is now fucked beyond repair.

MagicShel, (edited )

It didn’t predate the original freaking trilogy… which did it twice in three movies.

MagicShel,

Tav: Swords Bard / Thief

Durge: Gloomstalker / Assassin

Shart: Light Cleric (though trying Thunder Cleric/ Sorc this run and it’s alright. I miss the holy blender.)

Astarion: Way of the Fist Monk, sometimes with Thief. But thief runs through ki points too fast and usually isn’t necessary.

Karlach: Throw Barb, sometimes with Warlock 3

Lae’zel: straight fighter. Usually Battlemaster, but I switch it up sometimes

Minthara: Paladin/Champion (probably not a power combo, but I hate Paladin without huge crit range - Sorcadin never procs divine smite for me)

Gale, Wyll, Halsin & Jahira: Level 1 camp cooks. Used only when demanded by the story.

I should change them up more, but I never do. I feel like this is a very vanilla list.

MagicShel,

Sometimes it’s hard to play with certain great combos because I have another character already using the gear. That happens a lot with Shart and reverb/radiant orb gear. But I think I just got BotMS yesterday so maybe I’ll give it a shot.

My concern is the folks I most want to crit the hell out of are folks with legendary resistance. Having 18-20 crit range (champ+deadshot) is really helpful on boss fights because 2 smite crits can just about end a boss fight (along with the plinking of everyone else).

That being said, the size of my crits I think is really being limited by only having level 2 spells. I just really don’t care for paladins all that much. I might try Sorcadin with a focus on crit elixirs instead of cloud giant.

My last run I think I respecced her to Eldritch Knight and just ran her alongside Lae’zel’s Battlemaster. With Shart for debuffing holy blender and a bard Tav artillery support. Six two handed weapon smashes, plus usually seventh and eighth bonus smashes is really consistent damage.

Trump Demands Biden Take a Drug Test Before Debating and Claims the President Was ‘High as a Kite’ During the State of the Union (www.mediaite.com)

“I just wanna debate this guy, but you know– and I’m gonna demand a drug test too, by the way,” Trump said as the audience cheered. “I am. No, I really am. I don’t want him coming in like the State of the Union. He was high as a kite.”

MagicShel,

I think Biden demand Trump submit dna for comparison to cold case rape kits.

MagicShel,

Have you gone berserk? Can’t you see that man is a ni…

House votes to require delivery of bombs to Israel in GOP-led rebuke of Biden policies (apnews.com)

The House delivered a rebuke to President Joe Biden Thursday for pausing a shipment of bombs to Israel, passing legislation that seeks to force the weapons transfer as Republicans worked to highlight Democratic divisions over the Israel-Hamas war....

MagicShel,

Oh now we care about abandoning close allies in the Middle East? Tell that to the Kurds.

MagicShel,

God is definitely not winning here. His name gets involved a lot, but not in support of him.

MagicShel,

I drank Bud light and grew boobs! Always thought it would be sexier to have boobs, if I’m honest. They look so good on women…

US House votes to force weapons shipments to Israel, rebuking Biden (www.reuters.com)

The Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill on Thursday that would force President Joe Biden to send weapons to Israel, seeking to rebuke the Democrat for delaying bomb shipments as he urges Israel to do more to protect civilians during its war with Hamas....

MagicShel,

I feel like we’ve had this particular conversation several times lately in the public sphere. There can only be two parties in the presidential race. You’ll have to co-opt one of them from within to effect change.

MagicShel,

I thought it was just an ad aggregator.

MagicShel,

I spent all my time in utero working on binary division.

MagicShel,

“Died of high chili consumption”? Is this actual English? Those words don’t seem to fit together that way. I feel like if this were a real thing, Thailand wouldn’t exist.

MagicShel, (edited )

Mexican food has nothing on Thai food when it comes to spice. I like spicy food, even Thai-spicy food, but I have only once made the mistake of asking them to make it as spicy as they could. I swear that little old lady was hiding a huge grin as she marched that order back to the kitchen. Then they only came out to refill my water once.

It was fucking delicious, but I think I started to hallucinate.

MagicShel,

I’m not sure what part of my post indicated I might be serious, but I wasn’t. I was just commenting on the title gore with a funny.

MagicShel,

I held that line for decades. I honestly thought he had a super fucked up childhood and just turned into a weird manchild with fucked up boundaries. But in the last few years since his death I feel like the balance of evidence is weighing heavily against him. Of course he’s not around to defend himself any more, either. I’m done sticking up for him. Either way it’s a tragic tale.

MagicShel,

Never tried it, but I’ll see if I can find any. Honestly never heard of it being a thing even in a college town, but I’ll look around Detroit.

MagicShel, (edited )

Hundreds of times? Multiple hundreds? Let’s generously assume she manages to invade a clinic a month. Then she been doing that nonstop for nearly twenty years minimum. Hundreds is hyperbole, right? Right?

MagicShel,

I didn’t even make it to the article because I don’t care about either of those chuckle fucks. But it sounds like a wild ride.

MagicShel,

Eddie Murray was the top point scorer for the Lions for the entirety of the 80’s. Growing up in Michigan during that decade, he and Barry Sanders (90’s) are the only Lions I can remember.

Maybe that’s just a really specific circumstance of a great kicker on a shit team, but I think he was pretty respected.

The coordination network toolkit: a framework for detecting and analysing coordinated behaviour on social media (link.springer.com)

The authors introduce and evaluate an open-source software package and methodological framework for detecting and analysing coordinated behaviour on social media, namely the Coordination Network Toolkit, utilising weighted, directed multigraphs to capture intricate coordination dynamics....

MagicShel,

I’ve always wanted to do this sort of thing, but lack the math and research background to do a good job of it. Glad someone is working on it.

MagicShel,

The subsidy is included in that income. They are being paid by the Chinese govt in part or in particular to damage foreign manufacturing base and economies and to keep them out of China as a strategic move.

“So what” is a fair question that deserves an answer. The most obvious concern is if they are able to hurt our manufacturing, we become reliant on their car’s and the prices go up and we start exporting more of our wealth and we as a nation become poorer and less able to fight back on predatory practices.

There are also national defense considerations to having a weak manufacturing base. That’s why we are trying to build up our semiconductor capabilities because we are already too reliant on SE Asia for comfort.

The Chevy Bolt was consistently praised as a wonderful EV, but last I heard GM lost money on it factoring in the battery recall, so I don’t think the goal here is to protect the “massive profits” by keeping prices high.

Is this particular move the right one? Too much? Too little? All good questions and folks who know way more about it could have a healthy debate, but there are good reasons other than fucking over American car buyers. Walmart and Amazon have destroyed local retailers to our detriment, and that’s the sort of situation this aims to prevent. But I can’t say whether it’s the right solution or will ultimately work.

MagicShel,

Well, that’s a fair point. The Bolt is being replaced by an EV version of the Equinox, which I like better for the crossover size factor, but I suspect it won’t hit quite the same as the Bolt.

No replacement for the Volt, though. Which kinda sucks, though it wasn’t a cheap market car by any means. I think mine was 35k new and I didn’t spring for the fancy version.
