Yeah same, we took a mini trip on the way home from the wedding, with plans to do a huge trip “soon”. With our lifestyles we already “need” to travel multiple times a year just for family etc, so taking the time and expense for such a trip just never really works out.

Nice. Yeah a friend of mine is trying to move there but it’s taking him many years, also learned the language etc and playing the visa games. I never been and have so much expectations from it I want to make it special when I go, but I know immigration isn’t for me because I don’t think I can be arsed learning the language.

When you argue for housing reform to legalize denser development in our cities, you quickly learn that some people hate density. Like, really hate density, with visceral disgust and contempt for any development pattern that involves buildings being tall or close together.
I lived 6 months in HK and I loved the city, it’s an amazing place. And that’s from someone that doesn’t like big cities like Paris, New York, LA, etc. I do like Singapore, London, Amsterdam and others but generally prefer the countryside. In my case the only sucky thing is we were in a shared flat but if you can get your hands on something even remotely decent and your own, you can have a great time there. Just spend all your time outside, the city never sleeps and eating out and entertainment is cheap. Small apartment is fine for your recovery/private time needs. Of course the political situation has changed a bit since I was there but that doesn’t change anything to the urban planning/lifestyle argument. Again, from someone currently living in a village house and planning on going remote-ish at some point.
What if we just put one next to a nice looking pool, maybe add some long chairs, some sunshades, and a couple nice floaters. If after adding a floating minibar it still doesn’t go in then we know they don’t swim.
This is quite exciting in that it removes plastic waste. I see no reason why different companies can’t make different shape ones to maintain their lock-in. I expect a knock-off market to pop-up, but that exists with plastic pods too. It’s a step in the right direction at least.
I’m no expert so asking with curiosity, but wouldn’t even simple things like your coffee machine changing lights when the coffee is ready require (a very simple) one?
It made slightly more sense back in the days, when each update also used to bring significant changes to the game engine, graphics, etc etc. But these days those changes are so incremental they’re barely noticeable, so simple yearly updates and a full refresh maybe every 4/5 years would be fine, but they figured out people don’t mind paying an AAA price tag every single year so why stop.
The article talks about a lot of interesting composition concepts, but to me it comes across as “euphorically enlightened” and preachy. In particular the parts about cropping.
We’re on the same page! Again it was a really interesting article with lots of valuable info, I definitely learned a thing or two and I’ve been composing frames for a long time. I’m going to read the other ones you posted soon. As for cropping, it’s an inevitable reality when it comes to some jobs with high volumes. The author does fine art where I actually agree that getting your composition perfect in camera is the best, but it was unnecessarily partisan, like an Xbox vs Playstation vibe.
What a terrible comparison. One chooses to be a nazi, it comes with clear negative traits, you cannot be a good nazi. One doesn’t choose to be male, you can be a good person even if you are, wtf.
Married folks of Fediverse, if you could turn back time to few weeks or months before your marriage, what you would do differently (if you would like to)??
