Any of y'all use a pH meter or test strips for food and/or soil?
Recommend one?

We used to us pH trips for soil. You put the soil sample in 2 parts de-ionized water, one part soil. Cover and shake. Use the test strips in the water. Or a ph meter.

Y'know how there's a pattern of behavior where someone says something is bad about the tech industry or community or OSS software or something, and then every single nerd within a 50 square mile radius says WELL ACKTUALLY??

I just realized that if, like, even 10% of them just... Sat down and spent some energy fixing the problem instead of insulting someone for experiencing it, we would've solved all those issues by now

You'll never see techbros create an app that researches and coordinates or streamlines the process of applying for all available aid packages. Or free training programs or services someone may qualify for. Because they have no fucking concept of what life is like for nearly 100 million low income people or those living in systemic poverty.
But for sure, an app that uses AI and video capture to improve your golf swing

It was a full on fist pump moment.

Do you have trouble communication metric sizes with Americans?

If so, I have you covered!

I wrote this simple app where you type in a size (e.g. 1.2 meters) and it will output more useful units, e.g. "It is almost exactly the length of 7 medium-size bananas"

Okanogen,
@Okanogen@mastodon.social avatar

@marquisdegeek
TBF, every measuring system is arbitrary, and while I admire the simplicity of the metric system, there are practical reasons to use many imperial measurements. I mean, sure you can bake a cake with 6 grams of salt and 15ml of vanilla, but why break out the scale and graduated cylinder when the teaspoon and tablespoon are right there?

? Seriously? IT'S NOT A MINERAL!!!!!
HOW CAN IT BE WINNING AGAINST AN ACTUAL ???????

Come on people, if this is the only time you've ever voted, do it now and vote for over that imposter. Even before the event started I made my views clear.

No, , nobody actually WANTS Nikki Haley, even she knows nobody wants Trump in the general election and that is her ONLY appeal.
She's a joke. Not as evil a joke as Donald Trump, but still a joke.
And Biden is going to crush Trump like an ant.

Okay, vs . Stibnite is cool, but I have to be in this matchup. I've always been fascinated by sodalite and all of the related minerals that only occur in very special silica poor or absent melts. They are like the kicking ass over the (and I already championed as the Yankees). Plus, sodalite is an awesome blue color and flourescent under UV. How cool is that!!!!????

Still on the fence between and ? Did you know that chert is another name for microcrystalline quartz? So is flint (a variety of chert). Flint gave early humans fire, arrow tips, and other tools, it was the first mineral mined, supposedly.
Does go around looking for cinnabar? Is cinnabar featured in minecraft? Heck no.

These giddy, breathless pollsters exclaiming Trump's prowess make me want to puke.
The question never asked is if his voters care if he actually was guilty of crimes. They know he is a criminal. They don't care. They love to play act he isn't. They love him more for it, not less. They want him in office so he will break even more laws. The laws they don't like.

Wow. This is a tough one. Two worthy opponents.
I don't have a clear dog in this fight both are worthy I'm going to watch what folks argue and put my thumb on the scale late in the game. Very exciting! (For geology nerds).
BTW, I judge on creativity, beauty, panache, humor, economic/historic/cultural value, and what it looks like in thin section.

is a damn worthy mineral. I'm not going to say anything against it. It's beautiful, it's important economically, but it's monoclinal and somewhat dull in thin section. Gonna go with . Flip of the coin.

Put in your vote! But just once....

People IS NOT A MINERAL! there is no other choice except . Even if you do pretend that non-naturally occurring, non-crystaline, non-solid mineraloids are a "mineral" (which they literally aren't and that's why they are called mineraloids), calcite is still the clear winner because without in the game, it is the other heavyweight. Calcite is just amazeballs!
Vote early, vote once (trying hard to not vote more than once on this one)

If "Beautiful but deadly" is your jam, then is the for you! Lead? Check! Hexavalent Chromium? Check again! Fragile, delicate, and brightly colored like a pretty bracelet? Also check!
Not everything from the Earth Mother is good for you.
But it's still a wonder and occurs very rarely, when lead enriched materials and chromium-rich ultramafic rocks interact. A betting person would look for where hydrothermals are forced through massive plutons of basal rock.
