Pantherina,

That abortion thing is messed up. The rest is trueโ€ฆ

Pantherina,

I mean this whole Jesus thing is pretty fucked up / meta, so I see no difference here

Pantherina,

Plasma is not a system, but I see how they didnt want to confuse people here

Pantherina,

Because manjaro does weird stuff with own repos etc

Pantherina,

Virt-manager is a thing XD

Pantherina,

Its probably just one package. I guess for example pacman -S plasma-desktop plasma-meta flatpak fish plasma-wayland-session sddm sddm-kcm && systemctl enable --now sddm does the trick.

Archinstall with the entire plasma desktop is probably also nice, or just EndeavorOS which will be preconfigured

Pantherina,

Its not a very good OS. Very opinionated, weird modded GNOME, nonstandard Snap doing weird stuff. But its probably okayish and pretty stable

Pantherina,

Lol is your OS always on?

Pantherina,

Its poorly the defacto standard on most common distros

Pantherina,

How does it fix that?

Pantherina,

I mean I do that currently and it is okay, but file transfer is still not working. The rest is, and I think it even was pretty much ootb, but the SPICE drivers are a real hassle to get installed, while it could be a one click solution?

(This โ€œinsert spice CDโ€ thing has no option to download the driver ISO, right?)

Also windows11 is a bit bloated. Bulk crap uninstaller and ChrisTituses Winutil really help making it less fancy but more performant, or just usable.

But yes, VM is way better than hardware. If your Laptop supports that.

Pantherina,

I meanโ€ฆ having updates that suck is not a good solution but for sure do every update please.

Its just excrutiatingly slow, like 5min one time where Fedora Kinoite is more stable, doesnt fuck up other partitions and goes in the background while using the system!

Android (GrapheneOS) is even better with updates in the background and very low CPU usage, one reboot and you are there.

Or just regular mutable Linux distros seperating packages that dont need a reboot from packages that do.

Pantherina,

ChrisTitus Winutil setting updates to โ€œsecurity onlyโ€ is a solution. This is dangerous, even more as Windows is a malware target

Pantherina,

Damn that sounds great! Build from source when needed too, this means everything will just run?

I am curious about using the linux libre kernel, as modern hardware doesnt often even support / has a ported to coreboot.

I have a Clevo NV41MZ next to me and I will soooon coreboot it. Also a Thinkpad T430. One will get Nitrokeys heads (as it seems to be updated better, or I should just compile heads) and the other one Dasharo.

But these firmwares both require blobs, still wayy better than proprietary firmware, but just to see how crazy this is, all these machines everyone uses are proprietary unupdated garbage.

Really curious about Guix, want to try it out. I really like Flatpaks now as I am on Fedora Kinoite, so nearly every distro will just work for me as long as its modern and has Wayland and systemd I guess

Pantherina,

I would get UbuntuCE and turn it into Satanic, like a softfork. That would be satanic indeed, the evil offspring

Any tips for creating memes using FOSS. I made this in Impress, then copy-pasted it into gimp, and it reduced the quality a lot. (i.ibb.co)

In PowerPoint, you can just select everything, then right-click -> save as image, and it saves whatever you have selected rather than the whole slide. There doesn't seem to be a way to do that in Impress, but I realised you could copy-paste into Gimp and that would copy the objects as an image, so I've been making memes that...

Pantherina,

Why use such an installer and not just a regular Linux install? I dont get that OEM thing

Pantherina,

Fucking sucks needing to give Windows tech advice
