New(-to-me) laptop is in!

This <$100 thing might be the most performant machine I own. 😆

Also, I've been experimenting a bit with #NomadBSD lately. It's not quite as polished as a Linux distro, but it's mighty nice! (Persistent #FreeBSD-based boot USB image, can do UFS or ZFS and optionally encrypt)

I'm actually starting to like using my #ReMarkable2 -- the firmware updates have made it a lot nicer to use, and the two-finger-poke-to-undo has eliminated wishing I had splurged for the pen with the eraser.

But the lack of backlight/sidelight plus the age of my eyes kinda sucks. I have a booklight, but it's just not good enough. It illuminates things well enough, but there's way too much glare :/

I guess I need to use it in bright sunlight like in their ads. :P

Welp, I got my old Nokia 6.1 (2018) up and mostly operational now.
I even have it mostly de-googled, thanks to TrackerControl (marvelous app!)
I guess I'm parking here (again) until the Fairphone 5 comes out.

Sadly, my Pixel only lasted me 2.61 years. That's a lot less than my beloved iPhone 4 (3.27y), and my cursèd Green iPhone 5c (3.66y)

When I was a kid, TV seasons were 22-24 episodes long, and came out every academic year like clockwork, from September to May, with re-runs through the summer.

It's working great, but won't pass newlines no matter what I try.

Any ideas?

I've got earbuds in with calm soaking music and it's like trying to drown out a Saturn V launch with a scratched LP of Yanni Live at the Acropolis.

Especially when it's as low as 24 characters (or less).
