RedNight,

This one might not have been that cheap. The malicious code was added by a maintainer on the project for two years. That is some patience

Is there anything unsavory about ProtonMail?

For some reason I have it in the back of my mind that they were at one point accused of being a honeypot for US intelligence because of their association with MIT. Probably complete BS, but maybe not. Are they as open source as they claim to be? Looks like they’re on github. F-Droid seems to think they have some Google...

RedNight,

I don’t like that their open-source repositories, like the android mail app, disabled public issues. Normally lots of good information can be found in issues, like known bugs or reasons why a tracker still exists in the app.

RedNight,

Yes, Macbook Pro 2017 has issues with Linux. See here for what does and doesn’t work: github.com/Dunedan/mbp-2016-linux

Some workaround fixes here: gist.github.com/…/1289542a748d9a104e7baec6a92f9cd…

RedNight,

Great. I’m glad you saw them. Yeah, I’ve been watching this device for years hoping for better support. The very technical manual WiFi fixes do seem to work, but I think a usb WiFi adapter might be more pleasant.

RedNight,

If you mention Graph<nospam>eneOS, you summon him. Check his history

RedNight,

Ollama has been great for self-hosting, but also checkout vLLM as its the new shiny self-hosting toy

RedNight,

Just make sure to install the 3rd party nonfree media codecs at installation for video to work out if the box. Also recently released Nvidia GPUs might have some bugs with Wayland ime

RedNight,

It was actually a mistake. They were removed years ago specifically for the fdroid builds, but were reintroduced at some point on accident. Annoying mistake for sure

RedNight,

VSCodium, and I suspect VS Code, flickers as well. X11 is good though

RedNight,

I literally don’t understand how people use Gnome without extensions. We must be built different or I’m slow

Is osmand normally terrible?

I just tried osmand. It took forever to locate me and then the map would freeze for minutes, then the blue arrow would finally jump to my location. It seems useless for real time navigation, is that normal? Google maps works fine on the phone (Android) so it’s not the hardware. Is there maybe some setting I haven’t found?...

RedNight,

I’ve used osmand+ for 6 years nearly every time I drive. Its definitely usable and only craps out once in a while. The biggest pain is just lack if address resolution, but that is expected with osm generally. As long as there aren’t walls between you and the satellites, at most I’ve waited a minute or two for position lock. Google Maps will use GPS and nearby WiFi to locate you, so its faster. Been playing around with Organic Maps lately and it has been nice, but I miss the advanced features and visual info elements osmand+ offers.

RedNight,

get out of my head bookmarks! lol

RedNight,

Not OP, but I’m guessing PDFs add more metadata that is harder to remove. Just a guess

RedNight,

Can confirm. Wayland with new nvidia GPU is currently unusable even with the proprietary drivers. F39

RedNight,

Yeah, I was talking about one of the new ones released this past January

RedNight,

All good, brother. I wasn’t that clear

RedNight,

I’m trying to learn about licensing. Why do you like AGPL-3.0 compared to others?

RedNight,

Which image? I’ve seen a few wireguard options on docker hub

RedNight,

Monitor is something different than mentioned. Based on this article, that product is still good. See the correction at the bottom

RedNight,

Need X11, as Wayland hasn’t been working well with my new Nvidia GPU on Fedora KDE 39

RedNight,

I tried this a million different which ways a few months ago. Couldn’t get Duolingo to accept it. Gave up and haven’t been back since

RedNight,

Could be. It was a while ago, but I think I even tried a recent version of ungoogled chromium without success. All mobile apps btw

RedNight,

They responded to me. It is indeed the RTX 4070 SUPER 12GB (Not 16GB). Going to cancel order

The listing will appear correctly again on 1/24/2024

RedNight,

Fedora 39 KDE Wayland issues with new Nvidia GPU. X11 no issues
