Try it? I think you’d need to have a fast explanation (I.e. elevator pitch) because the customs people are usually a little overworked.

Some might refuse, perhaps even all of them. But try it, might even get a taste of group psychology… if a few agents stamp, will other agents, seeing real stamps, decide more easily to stamp as well?

Cycling GPS on a motorcycle?

I was looking around for some GPS equipment for my motorcycle and came across some dirt cheap (in comparison) cycling computers with GPS tracking. This got me wondering, has anyone tried it? Since I don’t need nor want all that fancy stuff like tracking, consumption, points of interest, etc, and just want a map, a route and...

I’ve used my bicycle gps as my motogps when I rode from LA to San Francisco, so your idea might work as well.

However, sometimes I was going fast enough to surprise the software, I luckily was able to turn off “adaptive gps” which boosted accuracy at considerable cost to battery life. Adaptive gps allows more time between gps updates by noting your average speed and calculating how long until it needs to update again to avoid signal drift. Gps updates munch battery in a heavy way, and are specifically what makes your phone hot and short on battery.

Now that I’m making a little bit more money, I’d consider a Moto specific gps. I believe beeline, having released v2 of their motogps, is selling the v1 at a good discount. Dunno if v1 is still in stock but give it a try.

I work in this field specifically hoping to power CO2 removal in a sustainable way.

We absolutely need to reduce consumption as a species though, as whether we power cargo ships with solar or planes with batteries, we are collectively demanding too much from our planet.

It’s frankly amazing the system hasn’t fully collapsed by now.

I don’t hate my doctor or my parents for doing what they thought was a good idea at the time.

I’m fine and I love both my parents just the same. Hopefully you can find peace as well.

Honestly, missing a bit of dickskin is a lot less troubling to me then how hard we all work and have no real protection from the hurdles life sometimes throws at us.

Who’s taking care of my elderly family, spread out across the states? My nephews have to choose between affording a home by both going to work, or actually raising their young kids. Where is our eldercare, our universal healthcare, our pre-k benefits?

I have my reasons to gripe about society, and crazy as mutilating a baby under the pretense of health is, I don’t think it’s as deadly or dangerous to us all long term, as these oligarchs and their sycophants robbing us of our dues, enabled by an unregulated economy.

The clock keeps ticking on the detonator.

Ohhhh, is that why google photos has suddenly been crashing relentlessly since I updated? Sheesh

I really, really do not want to be lumped in with Zionists.

I don’t agree at all with what’s happened to the Palestinians at Israel’s hands, and I have no trouble saying both Zionists and Israeli govt are wrong here.

I have never visited Israel for how toxic Zionists ironically sounded, considering our history in Germany, and I’m damn glad I never will. You’re making us all look bad, you fucking idiots.

That’s partly why I’m trying to keep my little 80s Suzuki running, which I commute on. The raw material going into a new bike, as well as energy in the processing, is tremendous.

But without a catalytic converter etc, the suzi is undoubtedly working against my daily job at a green energy research company, not to mention that moto tech has evolved very much in the past 40+ years.

I’m going to go electric, but I’ve unfortunately gotta save a bit, and wait till this bike breaks. Till then, moderate amount of maintenance and a low-quality bike experience in comparison to what’s out there now.

Sorry bro. I’m getting up in years myself. So long as we live a meaningful life, no regrets eh?

I was WOT on the highway the other day, this electric blue Hayabusa pulls up next to me, we wave and then he peels off, fucking stunningly fast and he’s on the horizon… Still happy with my bike, she’s mine and I customized her just right.

Yep, my girlfriend fell down one time on her bicycle because of some newly installed tram tracks she was unaware of.

Ethanol fucks up the rubber in my 1980s Suzuki carburetor. I wish I could find an alternative.

This is sort of where I’m at with my 1981 Suzuki. I’ve learned to polish valve seats, hone cylinders, replace rings, replace the gearbox a couple of times, and some other stuff, on my own.

She’s a little 400, I work her a bit too hard sometimes but I’ve loved knowing how to do my own work, and that my little bike rides and rides and rides.

Anyone else find it ironic that the ‘papers please’ character wears a fedora?

Nothing but time. So long as their testing is rigorous, they will catch up to Boeing… But will they be rigorous? History has repeatedly suggested, no.

But we in the west shouldn’t count on that continually being the case.

No music, I’m fucking forcing as much gasoline and/or electrons into the motor as the pedal will permit, while planning how to park a little bit away and sneak onto the property quietly.

Let’s see who’s got the better strategy, because questions will be answered.

We are, collectively, working to change that.

Redwood materials is trying to close the loop on lithium recycling from ev purposes, we can expect us military-industrial companies to take advantage of the cost savings, if for no other reason than to say “here’s a silent tank, we’re pocketing 60% of the unit cost for… Development… Reasons”

From acorns grow tremendous trees, it’s likely there will be a big change from an unexpected avenue.
